Why Work Here?

“Leadership Health is at the forefront of enabling home-based care, cellular monitoring, and telehealth.”

Leadership Health, a division of Shah Telehealth, is seeking telehealth physicians licensed in the State of Virginia to support a nationwide campaign to assist homebound patients in getting their COVID-19 vaccine and boosters at home (administered by a Nurse Practitioner).

COVID-19 vaccination and booster administration for homebound persons presents unique challenges. Homebound persons include those that need the help of another person or medical equipment such as crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair to leave their home, or their medical provider believes that their health or illness could get worse if they leave their home, and they typically do not leave their home.

This is a 100% telehealth role. You are not the one providing the house call - a field-based nurse practitioner does that. Patients require physician authorization before each house call. For both new and established patients who need a follow-up dose and/or booster, the telehealth physician's role in this position is to:

  1. Assess patient vaccination status
  2. Determine needed vaccines
  3. Screen for contraindications and precautions
  4. Educate patients and ensure their readiness for the house call

More specifically, the telehealth physician's role before each house call is to:

  1. Ask the patient if he or she has any questions or concerns prior to vaccination, and address them, as appropriate.
  2. Screen recipients for contraindications and precautions, even if the patient is requesting their second dose. This is because the recipient’s health condition or recommendations regarding contraindications and precautions for vaccination may change from one visit to the next.
  3. For homebound persons who report a condition that might predispose them for increased risk of anaphylaxis following vaccination (i.e., persons with a history of anaphylaxis due to any cause), recommend vaccination in a setting where medical care is immediately available if they experience anaphylaxis following vaccination.
  4. Document informed consent and if appropriate, write a prescription for the house call.

Logistics:

It's very straightforward.

  1. You define your own hours of availability.
  2. We will preschedule 15 minute appointments on your calendar.
  3. All interactions can be appropriately performed over audio calls through a smartphone app that you can install on any iPhone or Android, and documented in a cloud-based EHR that is also accessible via smartphone.

You will be provided with:

  • A remote medical assistant who makes sure your patient is ready for their appointment, and will appropriately transfer calls over to you.
  • Comprehensive malpractice coverage under our group policy.

Requirements:

  • You must have up-to-date clinical knowledge regarding COVID-19 vaccine protocols as per CDC guidelines.
  • You must have a license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.
  • You must have a suitable environment at home to support audio-based telehealth encounters.
  • You must have an iPhone or Android smartphone.

Compensation:

Compensation for this position is a flat $52 per audio encounter. Due to the straightforward nature of these visits, encounters typically take between 10 to 15 minutes to complete, including time needed for documentation.

This is a flexible 1099 contractor position.

Thank you for your interest in working with Leadership Health.
