Manage the procurement function to include supplementing Lakeside produced canned and frozen products, sourcing and purchasing all canned and frozen Lakeside and non-Lakeside produced products. Coordinate with Director of Supply Chain on corrugated and other supplies. Provide inventory communication throughout the company to keep inventory levels in balance to serve the customer requirements and to assure product has adequate shelf life when it reaches the customer.
What You'll Do:
Manage the canned and frozen inventory levels for the total company: Supplement inventory shortage of Lakeside produced products, communicate excess inventory levels to encourage movement and communicate anticipated shortages so prorating can occur before out of stock situations.
Supervise the Packaged/Finished Inventory Coordinator.
Procure required products in a timely, cost effective manner to support inventory programs and eliminate any customer shortages or late shipments.
Exhibit understanding of market trends, pricing and available products related to our needed inventories.
Perform professional and build good business relationships with suppliers.
Ensure that purchase orders are accurate, approved and released in a timely manner.
Develop, establish, implement, and enforce supplier and outsourcer guidelines, obligations and service level agreements to Lakeside.
Develop open line of communication with customer service and sales any related inventory issues that may occur.
Coordinate with Traffic Manager on products procured to insure best delivery systems are used to save dollars in freight.
Coordinate with warehouse teams on inventory levels and stock programs for our customers.
Coordinate with other operational procurement teams throughout the company to assist in setting up supplier contracts.
Coordinate with customer service to improve scheduling, inventory control and efficient movement of labels and packaging to maintain acceptable inventory levels of packaged and labeled products.
If needed provide training on good procurement tactics to help other Lakeside procurement personnel.
Assist Director of Supply Chain with the budgetary process.
Prepare, execute, and report performance to budget.
Research and recommend the utilization of automation and technology to improve the total scheduling program for procurement and product movement.
Coordinate with Quality Assurance that all products procured are to specification and abide to all company and FDA regulations.
Interview, identify and qualify potential new vendors or suppliers in order to secure most cost-effective sources of products.
Coordinate with sales and dry pack operation to insure adequate inventories are being maintained.
Other assignments as directed by the Director of Supply Chain.
What You'll Bring:
A four–year degree, with emphasis in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
Several years of experience in procurement or supply chain techniques.
Demonstrate leadership skills and be a role model for leadership.
Desire willingness to further education along with management and technical skills.
Ability to work and interrelate between various plant locations, Customer Service, Sales, Accounting and outside vendors.
Effective bartering and negotiation skills.
Personal computer knowledge, with experience in Word and Excel.

This position will require travel for the purpose of meeting with vendors and traveling to Lakeside warehouses.
