  • Provide therapeutic services to students and families within the South Hayward Neighborhood, which shall increase access and engagement of families who cannot receive school-based mental health services. Services will be provided at agency/community offices, and in the home.
  • In collaboration with SHPN Parent Ambassador Specialist will accept referrals and conduct screening and psychosocial assessments to recommend treatment for mental health and social services as needed for student and/or families.
  • Provide trauma-focused and family-oriented treatment for their client(s) up to six months, but the length of services may be extended if deemed clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in appropriate training and supervision to ensure the highest quality of services, and use of evidence-based practices.
  • Collect and provide to La Familia, on a weekly basis, required client level and service level data for tracking and evaluation purposes.
  • Responsible for intakes/assessments and supportive counseling for families, adults, and children as needed.
  • Collect data and provide service reports to comply with agency and contractual reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and secure comprehensive case files and prepare and timely submit all programmatic reports as required.
  • Provide referrals to other La Familia programs/services or outside service providers for further assessment/treatment services for any areas of concern, such as developmental, learning disabilities, behavior problems, school readiness, family violence, and exposure to drug and alcohol abuse within the household.
  • Meet with clinical supervisor weekly; provide reports as required and/or requested.
  • Provide support to Program Director as needed, which may include sharing client success stories and participating in funder monitoring visits.


  • Assumes responsibility for doing assigned work and for meeting deadlines. Completes assigned work on or before deadlines in accordance with directives, policies, standards and proscribed procedures.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to clients including cultural and ethical beliefs; and implements care in a thorough, skillful, consistent and continuous manner.
  • Knowledge of community resources for client referrals.
  • Attends work regularly and adheres to policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness. Provides adequate notice to supervisor and management with respect to vacation time and time-off requests.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues including client confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of client care and department functioning.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

  • Develops and maintains cooperative and courteous relationships with fellow employees, supervisor, managers in other departments, senior management and executive staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Tactfully and effectively handles requests, suggestions and complaints from other departments and persons in order to maintain good will within the agency.


  • Full-Time 1.0 FTE, Exempt, Union Position
