Senior Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer

Job Description

Kitty Hawk Technologies, a growing service and technology innovator, is seeking talented and motivated professionals to deliver lean and effective solutions to our government partners. We have an immediate opening for a Senior Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to join our team in King George, VA. This position will provide an opportunity to develop the innovative technology that supports some of our nation’s most important defense initiatives. Kitty Hawk employees work closely with our customers to develop solutions that support national engineering and security missions and the ideal candidate will support our team in providing program support to the Department of Defense (DoD). Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior M&S Engineer will provide technical, engineering, and programmatic support to the Aegis BMD Program, the Naval component of the MDA’s Ballistic Missile Defense System and Acquisition Category (ACAT) ID Major Defense Acquisition Program.

  • Responsible for supporting the management and execution of Aegis BMD Concept Exploration Division’s M&S Strategy.
  • Manage the Technical Direction Agents (TDA) M&S high fidelity M&S Monte Carlo analysis to ensure validity and that it is in line with the M&S strategy.
  • Communicates effectively with the Operational Test (OT) community to ensure that the M&S strategy is in line with OT direction.
  • Continually assesses, tracks, and prioritizes test program risk; anticipates and addresses problems in advance.
  • Serves as Aegis BMD Special Programs Test & Evaluation Lead’s M&S representative and participates in MDA working groups and reviews, including MDA Director-level (3 star) briefings.
  • Develop and manage M&S documentation to include M&S strategies, plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and provides flag-level briefs and reviews on M&S plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborates directly with senior MDA and Navy leadership to coordinate Aegis BMD M&S programs, including operational testing plans and budget requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • This M&S Engineer position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical field.
  • The candidate should be motivated and self-starting, with the ability and desire to work independently to evaluate option, concepts, and alternatives in a timely fashion.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Top Secret (TS) DoD Security Clearance

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Experience with medium to high fidelity M&S of U.S. Navy Missile Defense Agency weapons systems.
  • Experience with M&S Verification, Validation, and Accreditation methodologies and frameworks.
  • Experience with M&S planning, execution, and evaluating high fidelity M&S systems.
  • Experience with performance assessment and systems engineering practices, to include the derivation of requirements, objectives and measures of performance.
  • Experience with complex radar, combat, and missile systems.
  • An understanding of the systems engineering process.
  • An understanding of the Defense Acquisition System and weapon system life cycles.
  • Knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System and its interaction with the U.S. Navy forces and units.
  • Knowledge of Modeling and Simulation practices and processes.
