Senior project manager/engineer with advanced technical and project management skills to oversee modeling and master planning for major coastal basins in south Florida. Candidate will provide project management, guidance, oversight, progress tracking, and QA/QC to various consultants that will be responsible for performing the modeling and master planning. Candidate will develop and manage various engineering and modeling contracts, review technical deliverables, and assist in the planning of regional and local infrastructure improvements and operational solutions needed to address deficiencies in regional flood protection levels of service. Work location is in West Palm Beach, FL.
Reviewing Consultant qualifications and experience, consultant selection and development, review and refinement of contract scopes of work,
Review and approval of model selection, model changes, data sources, and interpretation of results,
Assist with development of methods and tools to analyze joint probabilities of rainfall, sea level rise, and storm surge events; and assessment of damages
Providing careful and thorough documentation; and preparing monthly status reports
Interface with local governments on flood level of service issues
Overseeing timely review by the technical team and completion of contract deliverables
Timely preparation, review and completion of contract reports and approval of contractor invoices,
Coordinate review and comments on contract deliverables and follow-up to ensure that review comments are addressed;
Assist District and contractor modelers in the various phases of modeling, as required.
Ensure data quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC),
Verify and test model code; develop and assure adherence to standards
Assist with the creation, conversion and/or testing of new and existing pre- and post-processing tools to be used in conjunction with scenario evaluation.
Review and approve the set-up, execution and evaluation of model components and modeling scenarios (base and scenario runs)
Assist in archiving of tools and associated data using version control software.
Work with other team members to develop and evaluate structural and operational features, options and scenarios and make recommendations to the District and local stakeholders
Provide direction and assistance in the preparation of program budgets, documentation, and presentation of modeling efforts, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
12+ years of related experience in the water resources engineering.
Valid State of Florida Class-D Driver's License
Florida PE or ability to obtain within 6 months
Preferred Education and Experience
Master's Degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
