Junior Achievement of Northern New England is seeking a committed and passionate individual to join our development team. Last year (July-June) we exceeded $2 million in revenues for the first time in our chapters’ 69 year history and we are well positioned to continue this growth. With a total revenue goal of $2,276,000 for this year and a foundations revenue goal of $510,000 or 22.41% of the total budget, we are looking for a Foundations Officer who will play a key role in managing all aspects of the relationships with family, private, and corporate foundations. Responsibilities include conducting the full range of activities required to effectively manage the grant proposal process to include: researching funding opportunities, writing grants, generating impact reports for current funding, and cultivating and stewarding the relationships with prospective and existing partners, following up on action items from external meetings and ensuring that funding restrictions and requirements are being met and expectations exceeded. This position will work with all members of the staff to ensure consistency with our mission, strategy, and core values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Fund Development

  • Collaborates with Director of Development and President of JAofNNE to identify prospective donors with an emphasis on foundations that provide grant funding. Conducts extensive research about prospects and helps to prioritize grant opportunities.
  • Creates winning fund development strategies related to grant funding, develops proposals for submission, coordinates and maintains grant proposal templates, prepares and stewards prospect portfolios, and ensures timely reports to funders.
  • Manages the information systems which track prospects, solicitors, and funding history. Assures that all data remain up to date and correct.
  • Organizes and maintains an annual calendar of grant process steps including, but not limited to, regular grant submission timelines for former donors, key dates and deadlines of grants in the funding pipeline, and steps to follow up on proposals.
  • Assists Director of Development and President in preparation for other proposals to funders as needed.
  • Manages the ongoing components of a stewardship program with primary focus on stewardship of donors including, but not limited to, communicating with donors as needed to keep donors informed, organizes and manages donor recognition initiatives, assures that all members of the JA team and Board have information related to donors that encourages enhanced engagement.
  • Extracts, analyzes, and creates a plan for the appropriate use of information from the development donor database and other records to improve results of solicitation efforts.
  • Attend board meetings in-person, and select committee meetings either via phone or in-person as requested.
  • Assists the programs team with covering JA events, as needed, which includes being an on-site liason for volunteers and teachers/chaperones and school/corporate hosts. There may be a need to take photos and/or request that thank you notes or testimonials be written, as well as social media posts throughout the events

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Excellent written and verbal communications with strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail and diligent follow through a must. Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently while sticking to a fast paced strategy plan. Strong people skills accompanied by an upbeat and enthusiastic attitude with superior professionalism and judgment. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and knowledge of customer relationship management tools required. Access to transportation – own car is a must.
