Who We Are

We are a privately owned, progressive veterinary ophthalmology practice offering comprehensive evaluations, advanced diagnostics (ERG, Gonioscopy, Ocular Ultrasound), and both medical and surgical therapies for our patients. Our services include a wide range of integrative therapies, mixing Eastern and Western medical recommendations for our patients. We also promote general ocular wellness and food therapy based on Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM).

Our mission is to create a balanced and preventative ocular health care plan based on a thorough ophthalmic examination and recognition of each patient as a whole, unique individual. Check our website to learn more:

Established in 2015, Integrative Ophthalmology for Pets started out by renting space from various general practice animal clinics in order to have room for exams. As our clientele grew, so did our company. We have gone from renting an exam room and sharing space, to having our own location near the heart of the Mid-Wilshire district.

This area of Los Angeles is known for its museums (Petersen Automotive Museum, LACMA, La Brea Tar Pits, etc.) and proximity to all shopping, dining and exploring along Fairfax, from Little Ethiopia to The Grove.

Job Description: Not your typical technician job…

While it is common for some practices to have their technicians hidden away in “the back” performing various treatments and diagnostics, never speaking to the client unless it’s to hand the pet off after discharge, we think differently.

Our technicians are just as representative of our practice as our receptionists are. They actively interact with our clients, obtain histories and vitals, and perform ocular specific diagnostics (Intraocular Pressure and Schirmer Tear Tests). They assist throughout the comprehensive ocular exams, which allows for opportunities to learn about ocular conditions and how to teach clients about them. Our technicians utilize that information when writing up the medical records at the end of the appointment as well as when clients call with questions about their pets.

When procedures are required such as linear grid keratotomies, nasolacrimal duct irrigations or subconjunctival injections are required, they are the front line. They prepare the pet, provide restraint and explain homecare of said pet, including medications, to their concerned owners.

On our surgery days, they put their skills and knowledge to use by placing IV catheters, setting up / breaking down the operating room (OR), and monitoring pets under anesthesia prior to recovering that pet when surgery is complete.

This is why we need ambitious, experienced, and outgoing Veterinary Technician’s to join our team at Integrative Ophthalmology for Pets. They need to have strong communication skills, be motivated individuals with positive, energetic attitudes, as well as and be both empathetic and sympathetic to and anyone who walks through our front doors. They will be problem solvers, self-starters, and able to actively contribute and grow with our clinic. They will be moral and honest, and excel at encouraging respectful and collaborative relationships with their co-workers, our referring veterinarians and our clients by showing an enthusiasm for providing assistance. And let’s not forget we’re also talking about a person who is efficient with multitasking and detail oriented.

Most importantly, it is essential that they love what they do, like to have fun and take pride in the results of their hard work.

To be considered for this role you must:

  • Be an RVT and/or have 2-year anesthetic monitoring experience (experience in emergency or specialty medicine is a plus)
  • Have a non-vet related hobby (i.e. salsa dancing, knitting, initiating philosophical debates, working out, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as mental reasoning and mathematics skills
  • Have a superpower or special skill (i.e. Eminent Cat Tamer, IV Catheter Wizard, Anesthesia Extraordinaire, Client Mind-reader, etc.)
  • Be tech savvy and a problem solver when things don’t work right (because technology is always perfect, right?)
  • Ability to be confident around animals, showing proper safety and restraint techniques for both cats and dogs, fractious or otherwise. (Ability to be confident with people too, fractious or otherwise, is BIG plus)
  • Type 40+ WPM with minimal errors
  • Possess sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform duties while in the hospital including the ability to manipulate (lift, carry, move) 50 lbs or more, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch intermittently, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to learn, be guided, and pursue continuing education opportunities

In return for being a great part of this team for 32 - 40 hours each week, we offer a great package including:

  1. Base Hourly Rate (commensurate with experience)
  2. Contribution towards Medical Health insurance
  3. Optional AFLAC Supplemental Insurance
  4. Contribution towards Life insurance
  5. Optional Dental Insurance
  6. Continuing Education Package: Around here, we like to encourage growth, innovation, and additional training (through RACE approved continuing education courses) so we will contribute funds that go towards travel and veterinary conference fees.

Happy, fun people encouraged to apply – if you’ve made it this far in our ad, we look forward to hearing from you! Please send us your resume and also write us a little summary about what requirements you meet and why you should be considered. We’ll be more than happy to follow up and talk about how we can have fun, learn and grow together. All inquiries will be kept strictly confidential.
