Injection Mold Set Up Operator Technician- Optical

Optical Injection Mold Set up/Operator
This is a contract position at a growing Optics firm with potential to go to direct to hire.

This position requires a minimum of 3-5 year’s experience in Precision Optical Injection Molding.

Summary:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of Precision Optical Injection Mold processing experience and the ability to establish Injection Mold operating parameters to process parts to specifications, set up sample and production molds, troubleshoot and correct process problems at the press, inspect sample parts for accuracy, remove molds from the press and stage for disassembly and work with production groups/teams to meet demand and continuous process improvement.

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for hanging and setting up tools in preparation for production runs, as well as starting up production jobs and troubleshooting.
  • Press tear down, follow mold pull procedures.
  • Understands mold components and perform insert changes.
  • Must be able to perform and document mold maintenance by disassembling mold, clean, inspect and reassemble mold.
  • Ensures quality of the finished product by continually reinforcing a strong and open working relationship Quality
  • Perform in-process inspection and communicates results.
  • Must be able to set up and test Optical testing equipment - Zygo Verifire Interferometer
  • Must be able to operate Mechanical test equipment – Mitutoyo Formtracer, Taly Surf, Calipers, Micrometers
  • ·Understand Lean Manufacturing Fundamentals including 5S standards and housekeeping
  • ·Responsible to ensure Department yield levels are kept over 85%
  • ·Work Off shifts as required Including weekends

Qualifications and Competencies:

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Fully understand blueprints, specifications, manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Exercise independent judgment when inspecting parts acceptability for further operations
  • Requires initiative and mental concentration to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Ability to work in a challenging, high-stress environment
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Proficient math skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Ability to maintain composure in a variety of situations.
  • Intermediate computer skills and windows navigation, Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • A self-starter, capable of working with very little direction.
  • Ability to follow procedures and work instructions

Educational/Experience Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent. Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in related discipline

  • Minimum of 3-5year’s experience in Precision Optical Injection Molding

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)
  • Highly repetitive work, usually in a fixed body position for a sustained period of time.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
  • The job may involve prolong periods of standing.

Pay is to high teens and may be flexible based on experience.
