We currently are interviewing qualified candidates for the following opening:

Transportation Manager

The position is full-time. The primary objective of this position is to develop and maintain the transportation program. This position requires knowledge and understanding of basic automotive maintenance and general building maintenance skills. The ability to maintain a positive rapport with members and staff is essential. Individuals must be able to respond and assist in emergencies and have good interpersonal, mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. She/he must demonstrate sound judgment particularly in dealing with safety issues and in dealing with aggressive individuals.

· Drive a 15-passenger bus. Transport riders between facilities and all established pick up points.

· Maintain a professional behavior in all situations.

· Perform driving duties using safe driving skills.

· Maintain a log of pick-up/drop-off locations and the number of riders transported.

· Completes required DOT pre/post-trip inspection of vehicle and paperwork of inspection.

· Maintain high quality of vehicle care.

· Follow all standardized procedures as prescribed.

· Follow all driving regulations.

· Provide reports on any incidents/accidents that occur.

· Ensure the vehicles are fueled at the end of the shift.

· Maintain confidentiality of member records and communications.

· Attend internal and external training as required.

· Organize, train and manage staff and member drivers for Center.

· Plan and prepare periodic safety education programs for drivers including conducting a safety meeting to discuss contemporary issues.

· Expand and maintain pick up and drop off points for van route.

· Plan and coordinate transportation for special events.

· Inspect and maintain all vehicles on-site for cleanliness and to ensure proper care of equipment, including seat covers, seat belts, emergency kits, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers

· Provide vehicle maintenance including performing and having serviced necessary maintenance as outlined in vehicle manual and as required by IDOT regulations, internal and external cleaning, refueling, etc.

· Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with vehicle repair shops including finding competitive bids and effective repairs.

· Maintain proper documentation for all vehicles (e.g., insurance cards, plates, vehicle registration, IDOT documentation, city stickers), assure required documents are in/on vehicles at all times.

· Collect, audit and create reports as needed regarding vehicle usage and maintenance data.

· Organize and maintain garage (i.e., cleaning, replacing opener, batteries, etc.).

· Perform minor building repairs and assess the need for professional contractors. Notify Facilities Manager of any necessary outside contractor work.

· Assist with Center security by reporting incidents of vandalism or other unsafe campus circumstances or security problems.

Requirements

1. Driver License for at least 36 months before applying.

2. Valid Driver’s License.

3. DOT Medical Card preferred.

4. Driving records acceptable to insurance carriers.

5. Accepted drivers will have to pass background and fingerprinting requirements.
