JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
The human resource generalist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, affirmative action and employment equity program, benefits management, and payroll functions.

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Maintains all employee and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
  2. Sources, interviews, screens and recruits job applicants to fill entry-level, professional and technical job openings.
  3. Manages and tracks all employee disciplinary action.
  4. Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner. Attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
  5. Acts as an employee relations specialist.
  6. Monitors tardy and absenteeism reports and ensures proper documentation is issued on employees who have excessive tardiness or absenteeism problems. Enters vacation, sick, personal day and holiday use into payroll and scheduling systems. Maintains and distributes report of same.
  7. Maintains employee personnel files.
  8. Maintains, updates and distributes the company directory and organization chart.
  9. Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  10. Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
  11. Communicates various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations. Maintains the employee handbook.
  12. Assists the executives in selecting and managing various total rewards programs and employee incentives, including benefits.
  13. Develops, maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  14. Conducts new hire orientations.
  15. Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk and hear.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Travel
This position does not carry any significant travel requirements

Required Education and experience

  1. Master’s degree in HR or related field and at least 1 year of experience in a generalist/department-of-one role; or
  2. Bachelor's degree in HR or related field and at least 3 years of experience in a generalist/department-of-one role; or
  3. Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in a generalist/department-of-one role; or
  4. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  5. SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
