My client, a world leader in orthodontic and dental supply, develops software and systems ranging from imaging and visualization software, to treatment simulation software, and to cloud-based, multi-platform clinical and patient account software. New innovations are developed at the company’s Long Island, NY location, and in collaboration with external product development teams worldwide.

The Project Manager must have experience in developing software deliverables used in the medical device industry, and approved by the FDA. You will be responsible for leading and organizing cross functional project teams in a global environment. You will work with people in software engineering, dental laboratory, regulatory, finance, marketing, and R&D. You will monitor team progress, ensure that project tasks meet goals.
Using your expertise in Project Management and Software Development Life Cycle, you will coordinate the development of imaging software and web-based applications. You should have knowledge of at least one of more of the following languages: (RAD Studio (C++ and Delphi), Java and Ruby on Rails, XML), GUI tools (Qt, WPF, COCOA, Swing, GTK), software versioning tools (CVS, SVN, Git), and 3D libraries (OpenGL, VTK, DirectX). You should be able to provide technical leadership for software projects, and project-manage the software projects through their full SDLC.
Working closely with marketing and clinical development, will study the applications and end use of digital products. This includes performing voice of the customer research, and translating the results into functional specifications. You will review software architecture, Verification and Validation test plans, and design documents. You will ensure compliance with medical device FDA software development requirements and documentation. Ensures that projects comply with company and division standard procedures.
BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar required, plus about five years’ experience in the medical device, dental, medical, or pharmaceutical industry. Should be knowledgeable about developing software for both cloud-based and device-based applications. Familiarity with full Software Life Cycle issues is required.
Project Management Professional certification (PMP) is preferred, but will consider people who are progressing toward certification. Certified Software Business Analyst is a plus. However, must have experience in Project Management for FDA/medical device products. Must have experience managing cross-functional project teams. Experience with MS Project, or other project management software is required.
