Job Description: HRU Technical Resources is partnering with an electrical and automationsolutions integrator to place an Automation (Controls) Engineer. As an automation engineer, you’ll be expected to become an expert indesign, programming, troubleshooting, and project management. You’ll work with other team members to take projects from concept tocompletion managing all aspects of the project. Being able tokeep projects within scope and cost, meeting deadlines and customerexpectations will make you successful.
Essential Functions: • Create and maintain electrical schematics withAutoCAD Electrical • Create and maintain bills of materials • Generate purchase orders, track shipments, receiveparts, and process returns • Communicate with electricians and other engineers,and attend regular design meetings • Interface with our customers to understand andoutline their needs • Program/runoff PLCs and HMIs (primarily AllenBradley) • Troubleshoot various equipment and machinery • Manage projects and manage project budgets
Competencies: • Must be able to work independently • Must be detail oriented and have strongcommunication skills • Must have experience programming PLCs/HMIs • Must be able to read/understand electricalschematics • Must have knowledge of industrial automation andmachine wiring • Strong computer skills and proficiency withMicrosoft Office • Experience with VFDs, servos, steppers, and machinevision a plus • Fanuc, SCARA, and other robotics training a plus • An understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics a plus
Required Education / Experience: • Minimum 2 Year Degree in Electrical Design orAssociated Field, or equivalent work experience • 2+ Years of experience in a similar role
Work Environment: • This position is a primarily 1st shift position butthere is flexibility in terms of work schedule. • Willing to travel an average of 30% (domestic andinternational) • Willing to travel up to 2 weeks at a time on largeprojects • Willing to work up to 50 hours per week in-town /60+ hours out-of-town
