Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center (GVSCC)

The CEO, by authority granted from the Board of Directors, serves as part of the leadership team of the Green Valley Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center. This is a full-time salaried position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional earlier morning, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

The Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center has approximately 450 members and recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Green Valley is a retirement community, located 30 minutes south of Tucson. Sahuarita is a family-oriented community that has grown over 700 percent over the last 25 years and has great potential and new opportunities for the business community and economic development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the policies and directives of the Board of Directors.
  • Manage overall operations. Develop and submit a strategic Chamber business plan that will sustain and enhance the organization’s revenue to support the goals of the Chamber and Visitor Center.
  • Responsible for adding new members to the Chamber and maintain existing membership during renewal.
  • Provide leadership and support of the organization’s regional economic development efforts through business attraction, retention and expansion and, maintenance and enhancement of the strategic and diverse partnerships and alliances in place with all local, regional and state partners.
  • Prepare the Chamber budget and ensures all areas of operations meet the budget.
  • Serve as a principal spokesperson for the Chamber in all venues, pro-actively and reactively, with a goal to enhance the Chamber’s overall image.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed and assigned.

Professional Qualifications

The ideal candidate would currently serve in a management position within a comparable organization, with a proven track record of success in Management, Sales, Budgeting and Community Relations. At minimum the ideal candidate is required to possess the following:

  • High School Degree with required position experience. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in management, preferably within a Chamber of Commerce or similar career background in a nonprofit, private, or public sectors.
  • Experience in developing and successfully implementing strategic organizational plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in general management, budgeting and financial management, marketing, human resources management, and Board/volunteer relations.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills with a large focus on excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Must be proficient in the following: (Microsoft Suite especially Word, Excel and all social media). Must know how to produce appropriate Quickbook Reports.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • A valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation.
