MISSION CONTRIBUTION:
To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the donations through
donor and customer relations, processing donated goods and quality control in order to maximize
profitability that will fund and prosper our employment and training operations.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager and/or Dispatchers the Truck Driver is responsible
for transporting, loading, and unloading quality donations and/or merchandise to stores, donation
centers, donation trailers and plant(s) and warehouses. The Truck Driver will provide exceptional
customer service to our commercial, residential, store, and donation site customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with procedures. Document
inspection and report the need for repairs to Plant Manager and/or dispatcher.
• Ensures trucks are loaded with supplies necessary to complete daily assignments. Such as:
empty Gaylord boxes, pallets, bins, totes, production & office supplies and/or processed
donations
• Work from policies, standards, and instructions, vehicle inspection lists, driver logs and
other similar documentation, submitting required reports at the end of each shift.
• Must maintain an insurable driving record, reporting ALL traffic violations (both work & nonwork
related) to the Plant Manager and/or Dispatchers.
• Adheres to all assigned work schedules including policies and procedures regarding
breaks, punctuality and attendance.
• Maintain communications with Dispatchers and report any unusual circumstances.
• Drives to various locations as assigned and unloads and loads the truck as directed.
• Deliver, move, or transfer furniture, bins, and goods from location to location per direction
and policy guidelines.
• Assist warehouse staff, Dispatchers, and others to prepare loads, prepare salvage,
maintain documentation, and assists in keeping a clean warehouse and storage yard.
• Remain observant of security to identify theft and prevent damage to Goodwill property,
including securing assigned vehicles, equipment & keys at the end of work shift.
• Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions are followed within area of
responsibility, wear required personal protective equipment and clothing, keeping truck and
loading areas clean and orderly.
• Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety
culture;
• Reports any potential hazards or accidents.
• Adhere to Goodwill of the Greater East Bay and DOT rules and regulations.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to
meet schedules and quality requirements.
• Maintains a professional appearance adhering to Goodwill Standards.
• Performs general housekeeping duties as needed.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Performs other duties as directed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• High School graduate, GED or equivalent coursework
• Valid California Class C Driver License and acceptable driving record per GIGEB's
insurance requirements.
• Three years' experience in driving medium commercial vehicles.
• Ability to properly load and unload merchandise into/ of the trucks, securing loads, and
conduct a pre-trip inspection of the vehicles.
• Must be able to recognize any unsafe condition of the vehicles and other problems related
to the job.
• Ability to communicate, read, and write English
• Ability to work a flexible 40 hour work schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Must meet qualitative and quantitative performance standards as established by GIGEB
• Must be able to pass Pre-Employment drug and alcohol test.
• Must not present a direct threat of safety and health to self, others or property.


CREDENTIALS, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES REQUIRED:
• Valid California Class C Driver License
• Forklift certified and/or able to obtain forklift certification though GIGEB.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
• The position involves light physical work demands requiring lifting 50 lbs. maximum with
frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 1 Dibs.
• Large or heavy items are moved by using appropriate material handling equipment and/or
with assistance from co-worker.
• Safety handling procedures must be followed.
• Driving, Standing, Walking, Lifting, Carrying, Kneeling, Pushing/Pulling, Bending/
Stooping, Reaching, Turning, Repetitive Motions


WORK CONDITIONS I HAZARDS:
• Limited hazards due to lifting, pulling, and pushing merchandise by self or others.
• Requires a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
