GIS Surveyors Inc. (GSi) is a growing medium sized, Geospatial firm with offices in Poway and Yorba Linda California. We are seeking two experienced project surveyors to assist in the daily operations of our Poway and Yorba Linda offices.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Project Surveyor are to assist the Survey Manager by developing technical documents and other mapping products as directed in order to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the basic workflows involved in the land surveying and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) industry.
Work independently under the direct supervision of a California Licensed Surveyor on various types of surveying related to infrastructure and land development projects with tasks including, but not limited to: Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Right of Way Surveys, Terrestrial and Mobile Laser Scanning, Legal Descriptions, Horizontal and Vertical Control Networks, Aerial Mapping (fixed wing and drone), Construction Staking, As-built Surveys and Mapping, GIS services and other various mapping exhibits.
Assesses project requirements, while implementing a sound approach or application to meet the needs of the project and client. Ensures that project deliverables satisfy project requirements.
Enhances project quality by providing ideas and suggestions to the team aimed at improving the effectiveness of the team, and of the project activities in general.
Takes a leadership role in executing field and office safety procedures.
Participates in corporate initiatives to assist in meeting the company’s goals for sales, profitability, quality and safety.
Provides QA/QC on own survey deliverables and calculations.
Manage and complete assigned project tasks for both GIS and survey teams.
Obtain clear direction from supervisors on all required tasks.
Work under the direction of the licensed land surveyors for assigned survey projects.
Responsible for managing and tracking KPI’s.
Weekly participation in the TBC/CAD user group meeting.
Obtain Land-Surveyor-In-Training Certificate within the first year or two of employment.
Perform other incidental and related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experienced user of AutoCAD Civil3D, Trimble Business Center (TBC) along with other common mapping and survey processing software packages.
5 years of field and/or office experience. Both is preferred.
Some previous experience as a Project Surveyor is preferred.
Experience in public utilities and transportation industry related projects is preferred.
Must have working knowledge with Trimble field equipment and software.
3D scanning experience is preferred.
Ability to utilize computer systems as a tool to effectively complete projects.
Must have developed the following skills; leadership, oral and written communication skills, planning, team work, decision making, judgment and problem solving.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.
Sufficient understanding of the basic workflows involved in the survey and GIS industry.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours.
