Starting wage: $14.50 per hour, plus $1.00 premium for 2nd & $1.50 premium for 3rd shift

(top rate up to $19.16 per hour for Level 3 skills)

The Shipping and Receiving Material Handler is charged with the responsibility for safely, accurately, and expeditiously moving all types of inventory physically and properly recording those inventory transactions accurately in real time using GSM ERP system. The Shipping and Receiving Material Handler insures that nothing gets into the facility and nothing moves in or from the facility without proper documentation.

Key Responsibilities and Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Shipping & Receiving Material Handler is to safely, accurately and productively facilitate the flow of raw materials, work in process and finished goods from supplier deliveries, to production operations, to subcontract suppliers, through shipping to customers.

  • Safe warehouse organizing and cleanliness
  • Receiving finished goods from production jobs
  • Deliver product via GSM owned vehicle
  • Safely and accurately loading trailers
  • Safely transferring and storing inventory
  • Packaging inventory to ensure safe transport through to customer facility end use
  • Identifying and removing inventory obsolescence
  • Cycle counting and reconciling inventory
  • Picking and assembling kits for customer shipment
  • Maintaining safe material handling equipment
  • Safely receiving of raw material
  • Subcontract shipping and receiving
  • Transferring inventory to and from GSM plants
  • Preparing shipping Bills Of Lading
  • Administering and maintaining safe dock practices
  • Weight balancing of trailers
  • Advance ship notice preparation
  • Packing slip preparation
  • Accurately picking orders that meet customer due dates
  • Safely load and drive delivery pick-up truck
  • Replenishing kanban signals
  • Replenishing shipping supplies
  • Proper packaging to ensure product is delivered to customer specifications
  • Scheduling customer pickup
  • Dispatch and coordination of all outside processing purchases and logistics, including paint, plating, galvanizing, machining, and others as required
  • Off-site warehouse inventory transfers where necessary
  • Reporting of inventory transactions
  • Promotes high morale, teamwork, and pride. Proven through observed positive attitudes and positive cross shift relationships

Qualifications and Competencies

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess excellent interpersonal and clerical skills, be able to produce coherent written documents (such as emails) that are free of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors, maintain an optimistic and supportive attitude, and maintain the strictest confidence regarding all issues and information regarding the company’s operations, its employee, financial matters, and personal matters of which the employee may become aware in the course of their work. The individual will also maintain competency with the following programs and equipment:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Outlook
  • Laptop or desktop computer
  • Office telephone system
  • Corporate ERP System
  • Forklift License
  • Must have a valid driver’s license


Minimum high school diploma or GED.


Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with shipping & receiving, materials handling and/or warehouse facility, preferably in a just-in-time OEM supply facility
