FutureCare Health and Management Corporation are seeking a physician for a full time position as a multi-facility medical director in the greater Baltimore Area. Assistance in the development and implementation of formal Resident care policies for the Facility with the collaboration of the Director of Nursing, the Administrator and other health professionals. These policies include, but are not limited to:
(a) Resident eligibility and admissions;
(b) Transfers and discharges;
(c) Infection control;
(d) Use of restraints;
(e) Safety, accidents and incidents;
(f) Use of medications;
(g) Use and release of clinical information;
(h) Resident rights;
(i) Utilization review;
(j) Planning range of medical services available
(k) Emergency procedures;
(l) Use of ancillary services such as x-rays and laboratories;
(m) Advance directives;
(n) Frequency of physician visits in accordance with the Residents' needs; and
(o) Abuse and neglect identification, investigation and reporting.
1.2. Assistance in ensuring that Resident care policies are carried out as reflected and are documented in the facility's drug regimen review and Quality Improvement Committee activities.
1.3. Providing consultation regarding review of treatment decisions, continuance of care and appropriateness of services.
1.4. Development, amendment, recommendation and implementation of appropriate clinical practices and medical care policies that help ensure each Resident's medical regimen.
1.5. Upholding medical and clinical leadership in a multi-disciplinary approach to Resident care.
1.6. Providing oversight and supervision of the medical care rendered to Residents at the Facility.
1.7. Monitoring the clinical practices of attending physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners and monitoring that appropriate care is being rendered within these professionals’ scope of practice.
1.8. Assisting in the development of rules, regulations and policies for the attending physicians who admit their patients to the facility, with the cooperation of Facility administration.
1.9. Assuring that residents have primary attending and backup physician coverage.
1.10. Meeting periodically with nursing and other professional staff to discuss clinical and Director issues, specific Resident care problems and professional staff needs.
1.11. Helping to obtain the services of qualified professionals to serve as consultants to meet Resident's special needs.
1.12. Assisting in securing a safe and sanitary environment for staff and Residents.
1.13. Developing in-service and other educational programs.
1.14. Serving as member of Facility's committees as may be reasonably directed by the Facility's governing body, including (but not limited to) the Quality Improvement Committee and Infection Control Committee.
1.15. Preparing a periodic report for administration summarizing the Medical Director’s actions, concerns and recommendations.
1.16. Reviewing and responding to federal, state or local surveys and inspections when needed.
1.17. Assisting Facility in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, corporate policies and other accreditation and/or licensure standards.
The candidate should be board certified in internal medicine or family practice and have experience in medical care and medical direction in long term care facilities. Fellowship training in geriatric medicine and /or the SMD credential (certified medical director- from AMDA, the Medical Director Association) is desirable but not mandatory.
