Position Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of associates with an emphasis on safety, quality, team work, high employee morale and excellent productivity. We currently have both a first and a second shift open.

Essential Functions

  • Follows safety program procedures and ensures a safe work environment for employees
  • Ensures all food safety and safe quality food standards are consistently met
  • Demonstrates technical and manufacturing proficiency
  • Takes ownership of cost center labor budget
  • Takes ownership of employee turnover and takes proactive steps to improve retention
  • Supervises Assistant Supervisors and the Production Leads, including the hiring, training, and coaching to ensure goals are met on schedule
  • Ensures necessary tools, supplies and equipment are ready and available to perform work tasks effectively
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements measures to improve methods, equipment performance, and quality
  • Works with Production Scheduler to prioritize workload in order to manage labor hours to budget
  • Ensures tasks are being performed according to standard procedures and regulations
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices
  • Responsible for adhering to Safe Quality Food (SQF) and food safety policies and procedures
  • Investigates and resolves work area and personnel issues in a timely manner
  • Evaluates performance and gives feedback both formally and informally (i.e. on-the-spot, discipline notices, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Conducts training and coaching of associates, taking ownership of the associates development
  • Ensures the condition of the work areas are in order and in compliance with company policies
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of, adheres to, and enforces all company policies and procedures
  • Participates in the hiring of new employees by conducting interviews and making offers
  • Ensures recordkeeping compliance related to achieving business objectives
  • Ensures accurate time keeping records through the time card approval process
  • Prepares daily department reports
  • Analyzes reporting data and makes recommendations for improvement
  • Interfaces with logistics, QA, sanitation, warehouse teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and effectively respond to changing production schedules
  • Goal-oriented approach to work, driving accountability throughout areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills that empowers a workforce
  • Ability to work with and coordinate cross-functional teams
  • Ability to analyze reports and performance metric data and recommend action plans for improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, a plus

Education & Experience

  • 3-4 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2-year degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience, preferred

Work Environment

  • Able to work 10 hour shifts
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable with a moderate noise level
  • Able to work in an environment with peanuts and tree nuts
