The FSQA Supervisor is responsible for supervising Quality Assurance technicians with Quality and Food Safety testing and documentation. The FSQA Supervisor works directly with the FSQA Manager to maintain food safety and quality related pre-requisite programs as well as overall Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification. The QA Supervisor reviews, verifies and maintains food safety and quality assurance records; identifying and documenting deficiencies and providing QA problem solving support to the Operations management team. We currently have openings on 1st shift and 2nd shift.

Essential Functions

  • Reviews, revises, maintains and controls hard and electronic documents for quality assurance
  • Trains and coaches QA technicians in accordance to outlined essential functions in QA technician job description. Works with QA lead to provide additional training as needed for technicians.
  • Reviews, verifies, maintains and documents SQF, HACCP and Pre-Operational/Sanitation records
  • Updates forms and SOPs as required; maintaining version history
  • Reviews on-hold materials with plant management and assists with timely dispositions
  • Generates and maintains Quality Notifications for customers
  • Collaborates with QA and Operations management to investigate and help solve problems on the production floor.
  • Maintains deviations and completes corrective actions for them
  • Assists with Food Safety/GMP quality related audit preparation
  • Responsible for QA final product and environmental sample shipment for laboratory testing and maintaining submittal documentation
  • Responsible for leading weekly inspections of all areas of the company including manufacturing areas
  • Performs routine environmental monitoring in the manufacturing facilities with the assistance of QA technicians
  • Assists R&D team with new product development during trial runs. Works with QA lead to outline quality checks and additional responsibilities for QA technicians to perform in new production areas.
  • Schedules, supervises, trains and supports quality assurance technicians
  • Assists QA Manager with hiring, evaluating, rewarding and disciplining personnel
  • Assists QA Specialist in approvals and releasing product, following our positive release policies.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement, lean practices, six sigma, 5S, food safety, environmental and plant safety programs.
  • Assists QA technicians with additional pre-op and sanitation procedure validations
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • BS in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field
  • Experience in Quality Assurance experience in a food manufacturing facility
  • 1+ year of people leadership experience preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus

Skills & Knowledge

  • Must be able to successfully complete PCQI, HACCP and SQF Certification (required) or already have these skills (preferred)
  • Fluent in English required; bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail. Must be able to read, write, and speak English to properly understand and relay important safety and quality information.
  • Familiar with USDA and FDA regulations, guidelines and interaction with regulatory entities.
  • Demonstrate ability to actively participate in a positive and engaged team atmosphere.
  • Work well with others to establish and maintain excellent interdepartmental relationships.
  • Familiarity with lab safety and handling of hazardous materials.
  • MS Office proficiency with the ability to analyze, input, graph, trend and report data in a detailed and understandable manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment as well as individually focused document review
  • Positive team player

Work Environment

  • Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to work in both hot/warm and cold conditions
  • Comfortable with a moderate noise level
  • Able to work in an environment with peanuts, tree nuts, all other major allergens.
