The Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, compliance, timely execution, and maintenance of the financial records of the business including complete ownership of the P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow of the company and its subsidiaries. This individual will also help guide business and financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, enforcing and recommending implementation of policies and procedures to manage working capital and accounting processes and procedures. Ø Oversees daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger accounting and cash management
Ø Directs and coordinates annual budget and quarterly forecasting functions
Ø Monitors and analyze monthly operating results against budget
Ø Establish and maintain Cost Accounting standards for all inventory items
Ø Responsible for the hiring, training, and performance management of the department staff
Ø Manages the preparation of all financial reports, historical and future forecasts in accordance with US GAAP
Ø Works with other department managers to achieve company goals and objectives
Ø Develops and periodically updates short and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
Ø Serves on resource allocation committee and other company committees or teams, as desired and necessary
Ø Manages financial and tax audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
Ø Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory reporting requirements
Ø Responsible for maintaining a food safe work environment and in the event it is perceived that it is compromised, action is to be taken which includes stopping the process and notifying the production supervisor, assistant supervisor, or lead on duty
Ø Other duties as assigned
Skills & Knowledge
Ø Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost accounting principles including GAAP
Ø Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
Ø Demonstrates professional judgment and high standards for quality and high level of attention to detail
Ø Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
Ø Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
Ø Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, and rolling budgets
Ø Ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet expected goals with stated timeframes
Ø Strong leadership skills and the ability to make critical decisions that result in meeting organizational goals
Ø Ability to work in a hands-on environment and work across functional groups
Ø Demonstrates strong decision making and problem solving skills
Ø Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
Education & Experience
Ø Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting
Ø Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in an accounting management role
Ø Active CPA license (preferred)
