Flagship Carwash is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee all aspects of payroll processing for the company including collecting and reviewing employee information and hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records within the payroll system.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Documents processes and continually implements process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Routinely checks accuracy of data in HRIS system, makes corrections and improvements to ensure data integrity.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of employee updates (job/pay, status, location, new hires, terminations)
  • Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll for multiple pay groups as well as off-cycle payrolls using Paycom.
  • Works directly with Paycom support to resolve issues and problems that may arise.
  • Maintain system for organizing payroll data, changes, updates and employee information for payroll cycles.
  • Maintain the general ledger report and record payroll in the accounting system.
  • Researches and resolve payroll/tax reporting issues
  • Point person for all payroll-related questions and issue resolution. Assist with more complex items that require extensive payroll knowledge such as taxation, yearend reporting, compliance with federal, state and local regulations and guidelines
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments (HR, Legal, Operations)
  • Maximize use of the HRIS system.


Education, Work Experience Requirements and/or Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Broad knowledge of payroll principles, practices, processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations that affect payroll
  • Experience with 3rd party vendors, in particular Paycom
  • Experience or knowledge of payroll taxes and W2/W2c processing (highly preferred but not required)
  • Experience or knowledge of ACA Reporting and Processing
  • Experience or knowledge of garnishment review and processing (preferred but not required)
  • Solid understanding of multi-state and federal payroll and employment laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, team-building, and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments concurrently
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
