Firefly Avionics Engineers specializing in Data Acquisition will leverage their applicable experience and expertise to design/procure, test, and implement flight data acquisition systems and instrumentation for launch vehicles. Qualified candidates will be responsible for design, drawings, analysis, some hands-on fabrication, supplier management, physical testing of all components and instruments, and integration into the launch vehicle. You will be part of the avionics team and will work closely and collaborate with all other teams across the company.
Work as part of a team to develop and implement data acquisition systems and instrumentation for launch vehicle systems
Understand and implement aerospace guidelines for development and design of low voltage electronics on aerospace vehicles
Develop specifications for the data acquisition systems and instrumentation, and work with vendors to acquire and integrate components that meet specs
Generate electrical schematics to support flight, qualification, and test lab designs.
Support design reviews by presenting design, analysis, and test results, showing component design and manufacturing is qualified for flight.
Build or procure and test prototype components for immediate test support during R&D
Monitor data acquisition system and instrumentation system performance during testing/flight and recommend improvements
Bachelor of Science (BS) in electrical engineering or similar
1-3 years of experience with low voltage electrical/electronic components development, procurement, or testing
Experience with various types of instrumentation, including pressure sensors, RTD's, strains, accelerometers, and others
Competent at end-to-end definition, requirements generation, block-diagram design, and integration into the Avionics architecture
Familiar with the usage of test equipment to verify design
Skilled at giving technical presentations to peers, management and external reviewers.
Proficiency with Autodesk products, Altium, and analysis tools
Experience with instrumentation in test environments, particularly as applied to launch vehicle systems
Understanding of basic subsystems of a launch vehicle and how avionics integrate within the vehicle and interface with instrumentation
Experience with environmental testing including thermal cycle, thermal vacuum, shock, and vibration analysis and testing
Understanding of launch vehicle or aerospace grounding and how it impacts instrumentation systems
Experience working with many digital communication protocols including CAN, 802.3(u, ab or others), RS-422, RS-485, UART, etc.
Hands on experience with integration of electronics and cabling in airborne vehicles
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
