The Lead Instructor position is part-time, about 2-6 hours per week. Perfect for College Students, Teachers, Retired Teachers, or others who need or want a job with a flexible schedule. We have over 18 unique classes in STEM education (and constantly innovating to add to our curriculum). You are expected to master at a minimum four types of classes. Each class is a high energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on class. Each class enrolls a maximum of approximately 20 children in a 6 week or 8 week program which meets about one to two hours per week. All of our classes are located at various schools, recreation centers, or in partnership with other enrichment facilities in Manhattan. As the Lead Instructor you may be assigned up to 2-5 classes per week depending how the New York business expands. This position requires experience working with children (ages 4-14), a fun and zany personality, and classroom management abilities. Sales and marketing skills are preferable. Each class is approximately 1.5 hours in length and requires about 15 minutes clean up at the end of class.ABOUT THE PAY
The Lead Instructor position is a part-time job only. We pay a competitive part-time hourly salary with upside "commission" potential depending on your individual experience and skills. Lead Instructors will have a unique opportunity to help the company grow by securing new business or accounts and renewal business of existing accounts. Lead Instructors should use their creative sales and marketing skills. Each new account won or acquired by the Lead Instructor will earn them an ongoing commission for each class they teach in addition to the hourly rate.ABOUT TRAINING
To be a Lead Instructor you must attend a mandatory 3-4 day paid orientation and paid training in either New York City or D.C. / Virginia. This initial training is critical to your success as a lead teacher / trainer / facilitator. It will take place in September 2012. This training will give you the basics you need to translate your skills into being a valuable asset to our company.STARTING DATE -
October 2012ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTSEssentials
· Be able to attend required initial and ongoing training to learn and to master our unique curriculum. You must master at least four types of STEM related classes (e.g., video game design, engineering, Lego Robotics, etc.).
· Previous experience with groups of 10-20 children ages 4-14 (K-6th Grade) in a formalized (paid or volunteer) setting.
· Energetic, child-friendly personality.
· Classroom Management skills are a must.
· Be able to work a minimum of 2 afternoons per week.
· Looking for PART-TIME work in New York.Desirable
· Experiential education experience.
· Teaching Certificate.
· Theatre experience.
· Experience with Special Needs students.
