Junior Environmental Engineer / Scientist
Ann Arbor, MI or Detroit, MI
Primary Duties: Successful candidate will perform compliance auditing, reporting, and permitting and facility inspections. Candidate must be proficient in developing management systems and databases and have knowledge of technical issues and federal and state environmental regulations. Excellent communication skills are necessary for this position. Experience with environment management system (EMS)/International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 certification is desired.
Successful candidate will prepare and/or direct the preparation of high-quality technical reports and plans including, but not limited to:
· Secondary containment studies and reports
· Spill prevention, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) plans
· Pollution incident prevention plans (PIPPs)
· Stormwater pollution prevent plans (SWPPPs)
· National pollutant discharge elimination system (NPDES) plans
· Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) plans
Qualifications: Ideal candidate will be ambitious, self-motivated, and a team player who displays attention to details. Selected candidate must be field savvy and a resourceful, quick thinker with strong written and oral communication skills. Professional registrations, certifications, and/or memberships are a plus, but not required.
Requirements: Field work is required and may include in/around water, rough terrain, and in extreme heat and cold weather conditions or other inclement weather. Position requires candidates to have strong technical skills including performing, reading, and interpreting calculations and data. Some travel may be required.
Education & Experience: Applicant must have bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, science, or related field, plus 1-5 years’ experience with internships being honored.
This position may be based out of our Ann Arbor or Detroit offices.
