Emrgy has designed and built state-of-the-art hydrokinetic power generating hardware and is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the design and implementation of the complementary power systems that will deliver electricity to the customer/utility.


  • Primary responsibility of overseeing the electrical design of a distributed hydropower systems
  • Specify, design, and program industrial automation systems such as drives, inverters, PLC’s, and SCADA systems
  • Design and specify controls, drive enclosures, generators, and micro-grid systems
  • Be data driven in all aspects of design and manufacturing and strive to understand how electrical and mechanical systems work together
  • Perform simulation, modeling, and electrical design of power take off systems for power generation
  • Help guide manufacturing decisions and understand key tradeoffs and costs
  • Generate project proposals, schedules, and ensure timely implementation
  • Analyze data and create technical reports and presentations
  • Manage contract design, manufacturing partners, and their deliverables
  • Collaborate with product, innovation, and sales teams to understand requirements and schedule projects
  • Ensure best practices are followed, documented, and reviewed consistently


  • BS degree in engineering, preferred background in electrical, mechatronics, or systems
  • 5+ years of experience with a clear trend towards more responsibility
  • Experience with CAD, Solidworks, Autodesk and basic dimensioning and tolerance standards
  • Be curious and excited to learn about the many disciplines of science and engineering involved in Hydropower and renewables
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong team player and ability to work in cross functional teams.
  • Experience with programming or scripting in Excel, Matlab, PLC IEC 61131/3, or Python
  • Experience in wind or water electrical power systems is a plus
  • Experience with Utility interconnection, UL1741, IEEE1547 is a plus
  • Ability to travel up 15%
