EmpowerMe Wellness allows for clients and their families to work with one wellness team to get the services they need whether it is physical, occupational, or speech therapy, home health, medication management, help around the house, or hospice services.

We’re expanding our team to better meet the needs of those we serve and are looking for a Full-Time Billing Support Representative. The ideal candidate has experience working in medical billing and would be available to work 40 hours per week and is able to work 5 days a week, Monday-Friday.

About the role…

As a Billing Support Representative with EmpowerMe you will be responsible for assisting with the overall back-end medical billing process. Key functions of this role will involve verification of medical eligibility and coverage of benefits, audits of 3rd party billing reports to ensure accuracy of the overall billing process, deposit reconciliation and batch upload, addressing billing issues related to: missing/incomplete documentation and/or charges, delay in claim processing due to medical documentation submission requirements, credentialing issues, etc. The ability to review and collect information in a thorough and detailed manner, as well as timely response and communication are critical to the success of this position.

Essential Duties include the following:

  • Assist in obtaining preregistration information, such as demographics and insurance and input collected information into billing software in a complete and accurate manner.
  • Assist with verification of benefits and referral/authorization collection when needed.
  • Serve as intermediary between patients and outside sources related to questions or problems which patients may have regarding bills for services provided.
  • Communicate payment policies to patients and finalize payment arrangements with patient or guarantor, as needed.
  • Manage service provider accounts by reviewing service logs for accuracy, preparing and submitting invoices, and tracking payments.
  • Compile remits & payments received, reconcile deposits and prepare batch uploads to 3rd Party billing group.
  • Review and work billing error reports:
    • Identify and address discrepancies in network status identified by insurance companies and communicate issues pertaining to network and credentialing to Business Operations Coordinator.
    • Coordinate the transmission of information verifying medical necessity and accuracy of documentation between clinical staff and 3rd party billing vendor.
    • Resolve issues and concerns regarding accounts receivable – report prep and notification of management.
  • Conduct regular audits on 3rd party billing vendor to ensure all issues are addressed timely, and to ensure accuracy of:
    • Claim submissions
    • Charge capture
    • Applied and/or rejected payments
    • Itemized bills to patients and insurance companies
  • Track billing issues and communicate issues and/or concerns to Business Operations Coordinator

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree plus 1 year of professional office experience, or High School diploma or GED plus 3 years professional office experience (professional office experience in healthcare setting is preferred).
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
  • Knowledge of and experience with insurance benefit coordination, medical credentialing and medical billing.
  • Quickly adapts to change and takes a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Goal- and result-oriented, as well as self-motivated with a sense of professional curiosity, desire to learn new things, and to find / recommend solutions to problems.
