The position is challenged to coordinate and perform multiple training/instructor roles, which are intended to enhance the educational status of current and future fire district personnel. The assigned roles include: development, coordination, and implementation of fire and EMS related training programs for internal and external customers; and to interact with external agencies and internal departments and requires considerable independence and professional decision making ability.
Certification or ability to become certified as a Fire Instructor I in the State of Arizona.
Certified Emergency Paramedic with experience teaching at both the Paramedic and EMT level.
Knowledge in the use of computer programs and other training related systems.
An Associate’s Degree in business or management, fire science or a related field.
Must possess or be able to possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License.
Bachelor’s Degree in business, management, fire science or related field.
Instructor for NREMT – AMLS, PHTLS, ACLS, EPC and CPR (provider level).
Career or Technical Education teaching certificate.
Three (3) or more years’ experience in fire and/or emergency medical service.
Certification as a Firefighter II in the State of Arizona.
Ability to communicate both in English and Spanish.

Drexel Heights Fire District serves a community of approximately 50,100 residents in 60 square miles with medical and fire suppression. It is located on the southwest side of Tucson, AZ in the area of the beautiful Tucson Mountains. The topography of the area consists of flat lands, rolling desert and beautiful mountain areas. The Fire District is considered primarily a bedroom community with only scattered pockets of commercial and light industry.
