“Awesome people, flexible work environment, amazing fully paid benefits, and room to learn and grow!”
We’re looking for an expert Product Designer who can help guide and shape the future of design and UX at DreamHost.
From building new and exciting design patterns that resonate with users, to mocking up functional, polished user interfaces for product initiatives, to contributing to and maintaining our in-house design system and custom CSS framework, the Product Designer will have the chance to pioneer and take on numerous facets of design and UX and act as a defining voice for what design at DreamHost should entail.
This is a highly autonomous role where you’ll have opportunities to decide how and where you’d like to make the most impact. Moreover, your voice and expertise will have a large, tangible impact on crucial design, UX, and products decisions, helping to establish standards and carve out a design identity for DreamHost going forward.
You are an ideal fit if…
You have a strong and demonstrated understanding of UX best practices and procedures, including requirements gathering, research, and the ability to properly communicate the importance of human factors, user feedback, and data-driven decisions in designing the end-to-end user experience.
You live and breathe design, having a firm grasp of concepts, principles, and best practices with regard to modern web and application design. You stay on top of new trends and look for ways to incorporate them while also realizing when to step back and work with time-tested or existing solutions.
You have regular, hands-on experience with modern design and front-end tools, technologies, and workflows, possessing an in-depth understanding of the roles and functions they play within the greater ecosystem of product development.
You’re an experienced communicator, able to properly explain and educate others on your design and UX decisions and offer solution-minded feedback.
You’re a seasoned veteran who knows how to handle constructive criticism, understands the various challenges and circumstances that can arise during the design process, and can adapt, compromise, or teach as the need arises.
You’re a self-starter and a doer with a fundamental desire to lead and take ownership of your projects.
You have a fine attention for details and bulletproof sense of responsibility.
You likely would NOT enjoy it here if…
You’re expecting to join and offer piecemeal contributions to a pre-existing crack team of designers. We certainly value design and aspire to do it well, but in the spirit of full disclosure, we’re still growing in that regard -- ideally around you!
You’re seeking an on-rails corporate or agency-like work environment with strictly defined roles, processes, and directives passed down a chain-of-command. We value a culture of allowing our employees a greater deal of freedom, flexibility, and autonomy than your typical workplace; however, it should be noted that this isn’t for everyone.
You’re content with specializing or staying within a narrow scope of duties. We need people who can adapt to challenges thrown at them, step outside their comfort zone once in a while, and are constantly looking to learn and improve.
