DigiLens is looking for Senior Chemical Engineers, with a proven track record of successful development of organic nanocomposites. These positions will work with our team in Silicon Valley R&D Centre, located in Sunnyvale, California.

  • This position will work hand in hand with Materials, Optical and Process Engineering teams to shape the future of Waveguide optics.

What can you do for DigiLens?

  • Synthesis and formulation of resins composed of organic/inorganic reagents and liquid crystals. Structure-property relationship analysis and tuning of material properties to meet new Augmented Reality (AR) display requirements. Testing of materials for optical efficiency, reliability, and shelf-life.
  • Synthesis of novel photopolymers and their characterization. Controlling of optomechanical performance of polymers based on selective chemical structures.
  • Support a multi-disciplinary team on the fabrication of coatings. Process development using new deposition techniques.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and training of chemists/technicians to create and maintain SOPs for meeting Customer Quality requirements.

What you need for success

  • BS or equivalent in chemistry or materials science. Masters or Ph.D. desirable.
  • Comprehension of chemical formulations and material processing techniques.
  • Understanding of photo-induced organic reactions and dye chemistry.
  • Team player with “whatever it takes” approach.
  • Authorized to work in USA.

Highly preferred skills and certifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in the chemical industry, polymers, liquid crystals and/or organic reagents. Experience as a Chemical Engineer is a plus.
  • Experience with handling and coating of glass/plastic substrates.
  • High-level understanding of organic polymerization reactions and working with reactive materials under an inert atmosphere

Proven experience of commercialization and manufacturing of new materials for consumer applications
