CulinaryLab is a contemporary take on cooking school, offering students immediate immersion in the restaurant industry through our apprenticeship program, web-based curriculum, field trips and hands-on modern cooking techniques. We partner with local chefs and culinary artisans to expose our students to the real world of professional cooking through apprenticeship opportunities, guest lectures/demos, and field trips. Additionally, CulinaryLab offers hands-on series classes for home cooks, as well as corporate team building events, applying the same teaching methodologies and high-level instruction as in our pro classes.

We are expanding our series classes and booking a higher volume of corporate events. We have a position open for a Chef Instructor to teach weekend classes beginning in April. Additional weekday evening class shifts may be available in the summer. At CulinaryLab, we don’t hire teachers; we hire chefs with solid experience who want to teach. We look for great people with relevant experience and real-world stories to share with our students. Serious cooking chops and extensive professional kitchen experience are a must.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of recent professional kitchen experience
  • Minimum 4 years in the role of sous chef or higher
  • Patient "people person" who is passionate about learning and teaching
  • Teaching experience is a plus, but not required, as pro cooking experience is our focus

Responsibilities:

  • Teach hands-on cooking classes for home cooks, culinary students, and corporate event clients
  • Develop curriculum for classes using a variety of apps and programs, including excel, powerpoint, word, and online resources

Compensation:
$30/hour
