Purpose and Scope:

Develop manufacturing processes and procedures that are accurate, validated and implemented for all new products. Active member of an engineering team that provides technical support and solutions for the scale up process and the commercialization of products

Responsibilities:

•collaborates with PD, R&D, packaging and pilot lab to optimize product compounding and filling operations
•supports corrective action processes
•identifies and supports continuous improvement initiatives including planning, data collection and analysis and recommendations
•investigates, designs and improves manufacturing, compounding processes to optimize quality, capacity, efficiency and safety
•leads/supports/designs investigations into innovative formulas to determine potential compounding and filling issues and works closely with formulator to resolve any processing issue
•work on process designs and pilot studies and develop “scale up” validations
•be a resource to production on trouble shooting
•become a training resource for the operation of new technologies and for existing equipment and processes
•Communicates with production on timing of line trials and supports department during those trials
•prepares IQ/OQ and PQ documentation for equipment and process validation
•if bulk is OOS unrelated to human error, seeks to understand and resolve
•understand the science required for effective scale-up including mixing energies, blade technologies, in process quality check techniques
•maintain accurate records of all tests conducted on projects for reference documentation
•design and execute effective tests designed to understand processes, equipment and ingredients to minimize variation
•prepare necessary documentation for successful batch making and filling (MFPS, Batch cards)

Skills and Qualifications:

•Chemical Engineering / equivalent degree
•Possess a minimum of 6 to 8 years’ experience within cosmetics or pharmaceutical manufacturing operations and or R&D environment.
•Hands on project management skills
•Lean / 6 sigma manufacturing principle
•Track record of continuous improvement
