Maintain protective relay systems and other substation control systems, support capital construction commissioning projects, and assist in system restoration activity.
Minimum Requirements for placement based on previous experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
5 years relay technician experience in maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of distribution, transmission, and generation protective relaying.
Ability to read, interpret, and correct 1 line, 3 line schematics and connection diagrams.
Ability to use relay testing equipment and software.
Test and calibrate a variety of electromechanical and microprocessor relays.
Possess computer skills to program relays with settings and to complete test forms
Physical demands include, but not limited to lifting, carrying, climbing, handling, kneeling, & reaching. Must be able to lift and maneuver 90 pounds
Overnight travel and assignments will be required in this position.
Must be able to climb ladders and lattice structures and work out of an aerial bucket. Heights up to 80 ft
Must exhibit a teamwork attitude and work well with others
Must be able to work independently without direct supervision
Must be mentally competent, able to communicate, able to comprehend instructions and build on previous experience
Must be able to work in confined spaces
Required to work outdoors and in power plant environments
Must be willing & able to work considerable amounts of overtime
