Job Title: Technical Consultant
Job Type: Full Time
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
The Technical Consultant is an integral part of team and will participate and lead in delivering a variety of software solutions built on platforms by assisting with the definition of the system and functional requirements. The position requires interfacing cross-functionally with other teams, communicating effectively (both written and verbal), and utilizing problem solving and technical skills to implement user solutions.
Providing technical consulting services, by participating in the solution definition, development, and implementation of user projects.
Supporting the definition of technical requirements for possible customizations using interviews, document analysis, site visits, business process descriptions, scenarios, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.
Acting as a technical lead for the team implementing the solution.
Assessing available technologies and recommend solutions to developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
Proactively communicating and collaborating with external and internal users to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver requirements documents as needed.
Assisting with producing software development estimates.
Serving as the conduit between the user community (internal and external users) and the software development team through which requirements flow.
Participating in Scrum process with an emphasis on reviewing and grooming backlog to ensure requirements, stories and tasks are ready to be worked on by development.
Assist with the implementing of coding standards and development processes.
Successfully engaging in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
BS in Computer Science
Five to seven years’ experience in the areas of software development, technical or IT project management, and technical business analysis.
Three to five years’ experience in web application development.
Familiarity with Agile Project Management with Scrum.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact
professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
Experience working with software development teams located off-shore.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework (3.5 and 4.x).
Intermediate knowledge of ASP.NET.
Intermediate knowledge of C#.
Intermediate knowledge of operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 7).
Intermediate knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server).
Strong analytical and customer relationship skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret user business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
Proven people skills with an emphasis on teamwork.
Ability to work unsupervised under minimal supervision, with wide latitude for independent action.
Travel (<25%) to user sites
