Proposes systems solutions and prepares cost analysis' and quotations for standard and special made-to-order products using legacy data, SAP and product knowledge. Enters formal quotes and/or costs into SAP and communicates to the requestor via workflow and/or standard communications methods. Must understand and apply divisional policies regarding pricing, discounts, freight, set up charges and other terms of sales. Coordinates activities with other Departments to obtain accurate information on manufacturability, costs, availability, logistics, lead times, and other parameters related to the cost or quotation. Uses judgment and discretion to interpret data and prepare the most accurate costs and/or quotes in the most time efficient manner.

The incumbent will receive requests for solutions support, quotations or cost analysis' from Customer Service, Distributors, Outside Sales Personnel, Manufacturer's Reps, Original Equipment Manufactures (OEMs), Engineers or end users, from both domestic and international sources and will process the requests through the following steps:

Analyzes the bill of materials submitted and asks appropriate questions to ensure the best overall solution is being presented to the customer.
Prepares takeoffs from submitted drawings
Asks appropriate questions to analyze the competitive factors that must be considered.
Prepares a preliminary bid if appropriate.
Prepares a final quote or cost analysis for actual buy of products

This position will analyze bill of materials and prepare the company's quote based on information regarding shipping location, competitive bids, manufacturing lead times, and contractor requirements. Any special considerations requested by the Customer will be discussed with the Customer Service Rep or Quotations Manager.

This position will suggest product substitutions to meet customer's needs, level the playing field with competition, increase success rate and improve profit margin.

Coordinates activities with customer service, engineering, accounting, inventory, manufacturing services and production to meet bid requirements and maximize success in obtaining orders.

Takes direction and follows guidelines set forth by the Quotations Manager and acts to support the overall Customer Service team.


A Quotations/Pricing Analyst prepares all costing and quotation data regardless of dollar amount. Typically handles 5 to 10 formal job quotes per day ranging between $5,000 and $1MM each. A 10 to 15 percent success rate is typical. This position must consider input from Customer Service and /or Manufacturer's Reps, outside sales staff and other inter-company organizations, but will ultimately prepare the cost analysis or quotation based on his/her judgment. The incumbent will adjust pricing based upon market conditions and authorization levels, however has no authority in changing "stock pricing". Recommendations that exceed normal parameters are submitted to higher-level management for review and approval.


Able to prepare takeoffs from customer specifications and drawings, and develop Bills of Material on various product groups.
Work with our customers to develop solutions for their needs.
Accountable for completing cost analysis' or quotations in a timely and accurate manner to help secure business and maintain profitability.
Suggests product substitutions and cross references with competitor's products to help meet customer's needs and improve competitiveness, while enhancing profitability.
Enters all data into the appropriate data base and follows up on previously submitted jobs to increase success rate and to measure win/loss ratios.
Provide information to customers from the beginning to end of a project, and have the ability to manage large projects both domestically and internationally.
Remains knowledgeable of market trends, geographical conditions and competitive activity and applies knowledge in preparing the data.
Applies divisional policies regarding pricing, discounts, freight, set up charges and other terms when preparing cost data or quotations.



Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with MS Office including Access or other database related software.
Excellent organizational skills, strong communications skills, the ability to analyze situations, and make decisions within set guidelines required.
Good judgment and business savvy required to balance the need to maximize top line revenue and bottom line profitability
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers via the phone, e-mail and other written and verbal communication mediums.
Strong math background with ability to calculate figures in standard and metric measurements and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume along with excellent analytical skills.
Must understand integrated computer systems and SAP / Business Warehouse a plus.


Good understanding of how our company goes to market and ability to prepare quotes considering all factors in the market that may influence pricing and discounts.
