JOB TITLE: Senior Director of Quality Management
REPORTS TO: President
Create a global solution quality management system and culture to improve the total solutions offered in hardware, software, engineering, projects and field services. The role will develop a total solutions quality management strategy to help the business meet long-term goals in customer service, quality and growth. This person will serve as an internal and external expert in quality management systems and best practices for the organization to ensure consistent high value company products and installation offerings for our customers. The role will lead departments in understanding how to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects or errors and minimizing variability in processes globally across all functions in the organization.
Establish a Quality Management Systems strategy for total solutions according to the overall business risks, priorities and opportunities. This will include defining the QMS structure and strategy for the business, designing new quality processes/procedures, deploying new procedures and integrating into the business in the areas of hardware, software, engineering, projects and field services.
Lead the analysis of internal processes and systems, processes at suppliers and in other related field work. Establish and manage a comprehensive company-wide corrective and preventive action process based on scientific problem solving and improvements, focusing on elimination of problems through analysis of systems and people processes. Drive Continuous Process Improvement activities throughout the organization. This includes education on continuous improvement, lean methodology and six sigma principles.
Lead departments in the creation of action plans to correct issues, follow up and track the identification of improvements.
Manage ISO 9001 implementation and requirements for the corporation to include conducting and organizing training of employees on ISO-9001, statistical techniques, problem solving, and quality awareness
Lead Supplier Development Program to ensure right quality, right time, and right price through focused continuous improvement efforts. This will include visiting suppliers for audits.
Develop and lead Quality Committee in identifying and implementing viable performance metrics for all groups and drive continuous process improvements throughout the company.
Stay cognizant of current and future trends in Quality and Process Improvement in the industry and adapt to the company as necessary
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP:
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organisation’s policies and applicable laws, including Health and Safety, Investors in People, Sarbanes Oxley, Quality Standards, Environmental Policy, Ethics Policy
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; employee development; Planning, assigning and directing work, apprising performance; rewarding and disciplining, employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Develop skills, through effective management coaching.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
Minimum 10 years experience in a Lean or Quality function or equivalent education and experience.
3 years experience supporting a global organization in a related function
Proven teamwork and leadership ability
Must have a demonstrated history of influencing others to action
A background in leading training courses in relation to ISO, process quality, lean and other related areas
Demonstrated change management skills are preferred in influencing other senior leaders
Desired: ASQ certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, IRCA Auditor Certification is a plus and ISO-9001 Lead Auditor background
Knowledge & Skills:
Global Mindset – ability to work with and lead diverse teams across multiple cultural boundaries
Foreign language skills a plus
Must have a sound understanding of statistics
Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, MRP platforms, and statistical software
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Proven problem solving ability. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Worldwide travel required.
