The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless seeks a Health Operations Associate to work within a multi-disciplinary health care team performing both independent and delegated duties including screening for eligibility, registering and scheduling eligible persons for health-related services, maintenance of health information and confidentiality systems in accordance with state and federal regulations, provide direction and guidance to homeless persons seeking Coalition services. This position is located at 2130 Stout Street Denver CO, 80205 and reports to the Operations Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Initiates and completes client registration process, which includes screening for eligibility, verifying insurance coverage, creating a health record, scheduling appointments and accurately entering client data into the practice management system.
  2. Performs health record maintenance, including archiving, destruction, scanning and indexing of health information into health records according to established policies and protocols.
  3. Sends and receives requests for disclosure of protected health information according to established procedures, ensuring compliance with the HIPPA Privacy Act and confidentiality laws.
  4. Assists internal and external clients and customers with questions, concerns, accessing CCH services, homeless resources and completing registration forms.
  5. Greets and directs clients, visitors, and guests to the appropriate department.
  6. Coordinates with the multi-disciplinary health team to maintain an integrated and organized health information system.
  7. Works closely with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to achieve efficient patient flow and effective use of clinic resources.
  8. Answers directs and responds to all incoming calls.
  9. Retrieves and delivers health information upon request of healthcare staff.
  10. Works flexible scheduled as needed to meet the needs of patients and CCH
  11. Demonstrates competency with continued learning and application of the Electronic Health Record.
  12. Maintains a professional and confidential work environment.
  13. Maintains a clean and comfortable lobby and work area.
  14. Assists with other administrative and health operation tasks as needed, including copying, faxing, word processing, and data entry.
  15. Is knowledgeable in eligibility requirements for Coalition services and programs.
  16. Maintains a work environment that is marked by respect for others; that values inclusiveness and builds workforce diversity, and that fosters cooperation and teamwork.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications Summary

  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Fluent Spanish speaker preferred.
  3. A minimum of one-year customer service, front desk or medical records experience in a medical office setting.

The mission of The Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

Our History
CCH was established in 1984 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. It was founded by a group of individuals with a will to take action on behalf of Colorado's homeless. They recognized the struggles of working people living in poverty. And they refused to tolerate the dangers faced by those people sleeping in their cars, in tents, or on the streets.

More than 30 years later, many of the underlying social causes of homelessness persist, like poverty, shortages of affordable housing, and unattainable healthcare. The Coalition's integrated housing, healthcare, and supportive service programs have been highly effective at responding to these conditions over time.
