Building Materials Distributor is looking for a self-motivated individual located in Nashville, Tennessee to join our corporate team as a Purchasing Manager. This position is responsible for the supplier negotiations and analysis of the organizations purchasing function. Reports to Regional Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and control shrinkage
  • Key job functions include successful negotiations with vendors
  • Developing and maintaining an understanding of market conditions impacting the building materials industry.
  • Monitors and responds appropriately to price changes.
  • Define purchasing recommendations that support business goals in collaboration with managers
  • Keeps accurate records
  • Ability to make sound purchasing decisions based on knowledge & experience


  • Vendor relations: Negotiations with vendors, pricing, ordering materials and terms and conditions of sale and warranties
  • Inventory control: Understands inventory turn requirements and the costs associated with ordering, stocking and storing products.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from 4 year college or university and 2-3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supply management, tracking budget expenses, vendor relationships, organization, customer service, documentation skills
