The Sanitation Manager acts as the point person for Safety, Sanitation and FDA compliance for our processing. This position needs to assure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures, such as NY STATE AGRI FDA. USDA, OSHA, GMP’s, HACCP, SSOP’S and RELETIVE SOP’S. The incumbent supervises and manages the sanitation crew.



  • In case supervisor is out of the office, the incumbent will be their back-up

50% QA Director: Scheduling and coordination with Production department; Deep cleaning on weekend plan; Equipment turn around and daily scheduling

50% QA Supervisor: Physical coordination on the production floor with the daily scheduling and daily cleaning plan with production needs, coordination with the first shift leader of sanitation crew

25% Leader on First Shift: Receiving the daily cleaning plan to be executed on first, second and third shift according with production needs and following the instruction of the daily plan

  • Supervise train and schedule all aspects of sanitation with assistance from maintenance and production
  • Schedule and distribute work assignments, by department on a daily basis.
  • Delineate schedule and special projects across all three cleaning shifts; visiting each shift if necessary.
  • Sanitation equipment function and equipment repair must be transmitted to the QA SUPERVISOR, QA DIR, & Maintenance Engineer
  • Chlorine, Detergent, and QAUT sanitizer must be monitored.
  • Function as a liaison with the Maintenance Department to assure the proper disassembly , cleaning and sanitizing of production equipment.
  • Support Maintenance in the reintroduction of repaired equipment on to the production floor ensuring proper sanitation.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly inspections; document findings and identify improvements to be made.
  • Ensure that all required QA documentation and inspection forms are turned in daily.
  • Responsible for creating and following the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Ensure that employees are following all company safety procedures LOCKOUT/TAGOUT policy, as well as insuring that the team has the proper P.P.E gloves, eye protection, aprons.
  • SDS will be reviewed and shared with maintenance
  • Assure that goals are achieved for a superior audit rating.
  • Maintain Chemical Inventory, as well as issue PO’S with our current chemical supplier.
  • Coordinate with sanitation chemical supplier on chemical inventory, and proper usage of chemical usage.
  • Insure all chemicals are utilized to their optimum performance.
  • Train employees in the proper use of cleaning supplies and techniques.
  • Partner with Production, Maintenance and Quality Control departments to meet plant objectives.
  • Walk around facility to monitor cleaning and sanitation processes to insure smooth flow of work.
  • Review and resolve operational problems from subordinates.
  • Monitor performance of department subordinates to insure they follow established standards and procedures and disciplines as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss department performance and or relevant issues.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including, SOP’s and GMP’s.


· Education

o Minimum of HS/GED degree.

o Higher related degree or certification is beneficial.

· Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

o Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position, particularly within a sanitation manufacturing environment, with proven, results oriented, skills and abilities.

o Organizational and team leadership competencies required. Basic technical know-how of diverse factory processes a plus.

o Knowledge of multi-culture work environment. Act as a professional at all times. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

o Ability to learn in-house ERP systems

o Ability to effectively communicate, both internal and external at all levels

o Provide rapid response to any inquiries

o Professional attitude

o Ability to collect, analyze and report all sanitation related performance results

o Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.


  • Daily - Insure all SOP’S SSOP’S are adhered to. Chemical usage logs, operational effectiveness. Insure equipment is cleaned and sanitized as per MSCL SOP. Insure all Safety SOP’s are adhered to. Interphase with the engineering department on sanitation initiatives as it relates to Preventative maintenance and or work orders.

Weekly – Insure MSCL is adhered to based available equipment.


  • Monthly - In house internal audit review with corrective actions as it relates Sanitation.
  • Quarterly - NY State AGRI audit review with corrective actions as it relates Sanitation.
  • Yearly – Regulatory Audits/3rd Party Audits review with corrective actions as it relates Sanitation.
