The Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf is a 64 bed Long Term Care facility that caters to the culturally deaf. We have both deaf residents living here and we also employ deaf staff. Staff must be willing to work every other weekend as needed, and must have 3 doses of COVID vaccine. The permanent full time position is for evening shift 1430-2230, there is opportunity for the position to lead to a mix shift of days and evenings, and a mixture of floor shifts and enhanced shifts.

The full time position has benefits of vacation days, benefit plan, sick days and pension plan. The home employees are members of the SEIU union.

Education/Experience

*Degree or equivalent for Registered Nurse in Ontario *Current membership with the College of Nurses of Ontario as Registered Nurse *Gerontology and Long Term Care experience preferred *Comprehensive knowledge and experience with nursing and healthcare practices mandatory *Infection Prevention and Control knowledge preferred *Knowledge of Point Click Care and EMAR preferred - but willing to train

Knowledge and Abilities

*Knowledge of the Fixing the Long Term Care Act preferred *Familiarity with Compliance under the FLTCA *Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams - physician, pharmacy, OT, PT, RT, ect *Ability to supervise, prioritize, manage conflict and educate PSW and RPN staff

Skills

*Excellent written and oral communication skills - must be willing to learn American Sign Language (ASL) *Must have leadership skills, customer service skills, good judgement, decision making skills, and be detail orientated *Must have a positive working attitude and be willing to work as a part of a team
