Candidate will oversee a development team responsible for applications using modern and legacy technologies in the Microsoft technology stack. The Software Development Manager is responsible for all tasks associated with developing, debugging, and designing software applications while providing strategic management direction. We are looking for candidates who are decisive, confident, and tenacious in their decision making with exceptional leadership qualities. Expect to be contributing to internal initiatives, establishing metrics, mentoring team members and manage outside resources, as well as transitioning the team from Waterfall to Agile.
Role and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels.
Participate in team process improvement to make sure everyone understands the development lifecycle.
Evaluate and recommend new and future technology to improve organizational effectiveness and customer service.
Establish goals and prioritize work assignments based on the product roadmap and client requirements.
Apply Agile methodologies to structure and execute releases reliably and with high quality.
Manage and control scope, timeline, risks, issues and change management across multiple projects.
Work closely with Design, Product Management, Technical Support, QA, and Engineering to ensure a high performing and ultra-usable user experience.
Act as the technical product owner and work with product management to deliver features and releases customers' need.
Delight customers by actively managing their issues and delivering timely fixes.
Establishes and maintains a strong business partnership with internal users and external customers to fully understand and meet their technological needs.
Implement appropriate software development methodologies, best practices, documentation, and tools.
Champion and improve the continuous integration and deployment of software within and across teams.
Assist the sales team as a technical resource to support new business growth.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or relevant work experience.
5+ years of software development experience.
5+ years of experience as a development manager or team lead.
Experience shipping user-facing products, preferable for desktop and SaaS platforms.
Experience with native programming languages, like C# and Delphi.
5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server.
5+ years of experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA – SOAP/RESTful).
5+ years of experience with Visual Studio.
5+ years of experience working in Waterfall and Agile environments.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems, determine appropriate actions and complete projects with little direction.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a multi-project environment, while ensuring production systems are up and performing well.
Experience transitioning a team from Waterfall to Agile.
Expertise in planning, executing and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Critical thinking, ability to challenge others and drive productivity, while maintaining strong business relationships.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and translate complex information to both internal and executive teams in relevant business terms.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Hands-on experience collaborating with Project or Business Teams to review business requirements and use cases, providing feedback to improve product completeness, quality, and testability.
Experience working with external team members to query, capture, and address beta, alpha, demo and/or UAT feedback.
