As a community and home for all things handmade, craft and vintage, our company enables commerce for millions of buyers and sellers a year, and supports online business functions for independent small businesses and crafters.

The role of Social Media Manager revolves around the online programming of curated content to social media channels and administration of contests, programs and merchandised site shopping experiences necessary to drive market presence for the ArtFire community. This position requires analysis of adhoc data from several dozen software applications and sources, and the ability to apply solutions derived from that data to guide user behavior... all of which we will train you to do!

Success in this position requires applicant to understand the interests of our user base, their shopping habits and patterns and the ability to relate to and effectively engage shoppers with relevant content, items and navigation options . This is achieved by working with developers to build tailored online shopping experiences for each interest cohort that visits the marketplace. In this position you will curate general items from around the site for event pages with specific items, articles and content to engage each of these sub user segments with an overall objective to increase time on site, page depth per user and site sales.

Candidates should have experience with and be proficient with large social media sites, and be capable of managing multiple platforms simultaneously alongside data streams as well as prioritizing dozens of ongoing tasks and projects at any one time.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Creation and curation of content and items for main pages and category pages including creation of sections to best engage users of each sub user segment of ArtFire. Select featured items, staff picks, handmade items, seasonal items and create collections of items most likely to engage each sub user segment. Work with design and development staff to construct a custom shopping experience for every ArtFire category, subcategory, trend page, occasion page, and specialty section.

Online Marketing through social media channels of a mix of curated content, articles and items from ArtFire. Conduct online (digital) merchant/artisan interviews. Manage featured artisan interviews and administer promotional programs that support the generation of content for site categories, sub categories, blogs and promotional channels.

Social Engagement through interaction around posts, collections, articles and content shared to social media channels to drive social presence. Use of a multiple software applications to manage thousands of social interactions; evaluate campaign effectiveness and adjust to improve metrics.

Traditional and Practical EDUCATION Requirements

Associates Degree, in journalism, creative writing, business administration or similar.

Practical experience in social media management, marketing management and content creation such as administering and promoting businesses blogs and social media channels is preferred.

Technical education or proficiencies: Extensive working knowledge of computer systems, word processing software, Google Docs and Spreadsheets.

Applicants mush posses a working knowledge of social media platforms: Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Plus+ Tumblr Instagram.

  • 1+ years experience with social media management mobile and desktop based applications.
  • 1+ years experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • 1+ years experience with Wordpress, Magento or similar Content Management Systems.
  • 1+ years direct management experience
