Construction Quality Assurance Engineer, Juneau, Alaska

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Division of Southeast Region Construction & CIP Support is seeking a Professional Engineering Architect II/lll to join our team as a Construction Quality Assurance Engineer.

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Construction Engineer, this position supervises the Quality Assurance Group within the Southeast Region Construction Section, and is responsible for this Section's compliance with all contract administration standards established by law, regulation, Department manuals and policies & procedures. This position directly supervises the Concurrent Review Engineer, the Construction Materials Reviewer, the Construction Materials Coordinator, the Permit Compliance Reviewer and the Traffic & Safety Reviewer.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:(it is not necessary to meet all these attributes, but some combination of these attributes is desirable)

• Experience supervising an engineering and administrative staff.
• Experience administering construction contracts.
• Familiar with Federal Highway Administration and Federal Aviation Administration construction and administrative requirements.
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications for heavy civil construction projects.
• Experience dealing with environmental issues related to construction projects.
• Working knowledge of pay record documentation for unit price construction contracts.
• Working knowledge of construction materials testing and documentation.
• Working knowledge of the MUTCD, work zone safety, and traffic control plans.
• Good communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with people who have differing points of view. -

Engineer/Architect II & III:
Note: Persons not registered in the State of Alaska must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors eligible for comity in accordance with AS 08.48.191(b). Persons employed under this provision must become registered in Alaska within one year of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Engineer/Architect II:
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and one year of professional experience as an Engineer/Architect I or Engineering Associate with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent.

Engineer/Architect III:
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect, and three years of professional engineering or architectural experience (Engineer/Architect series), or the equivalent.

Salary Range: $83,820-$96,000 (DOE) Annually
