POSITION TITLE: Sr. Manufacturing Engineer (Robotics)

LOCATION: Hesston

Purpose of Position

This position will lead all new automation manufacturing technology projects, support automation continuous improvement efforts, champion best automation methods and standardization processes within the robotic technology application function. Position will be primarily responsible for providing support for multiple manufacturing facilities within single site campus. Position will provide technical assistance and guidance in the areas of robotics programming, robotics machine center design, robotics equipment selection, setup operations, maintenance, and training. Position will also be responsible for sourcing/purchasing of robotics equipment and components for robotic applications. This position will also provide support to functional areas: Manufacturing Engineering, Operations/Manufacturing, Quality and Materials.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead cross-functional team to develop and execute robotic machine center design for manufacturing.

· Ensure the machine center design follows production team requirements such as design, robotic installations and that machine center is properly laid out for maintenance and good production flow.

· Program robots in an efficient and user-friendly manner. Maintain archives of robotic programs for backup and restoration purposes.

· Specify, purchase, and assemble components for robotic installations and upgrades.

· Assist production in tracking the performance of the robotic machine centers using Key Performance Indicators.

· Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues in robotic cells and recommend improvements as needed to meet all specified goals

· Provide support for major AGCO automation programs and Kaizen continuous improvement projects

· Provide advice to operations team regarding automation and robotic application

· Document all design work in electronic database system, including any changes made to robotic applications

· Relationships

· Work with vendors/suppliers regarding sourcing, technology information updates

· Work with other AGCO facilities to provide technical assistance or benchmarking

· Support Kaizen teams

Measure of Performance

· Projects completed on time and under budget.

· Manager KPI performance of robotic machine centers such as uptime, productivity, quality, and other KPI’s to meet targets

· Daily management performance objectives

Background and skill

· Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial.) Prefer Engineering Degree with emphasis in Robotics / Automation.

· At least 7 – 10 years, or more experience in programming, installing, and troubleshooting robotic machine centers within an industrial applications work environment.

· Prefer experience with robotic welding machine centers.

· Intermediate to advanced skills in electrical, PLC design / programming and troubleshooting.

· Intermediate to advanced skills in mechanical components, fixture, loading device design and welding applications.

· Intermediate to advanced skills in programming of Fanuc robots, Motoman, Wolf {list all AGCO robots here} robots is highly preferred.

· Intermediate to advanced competency skill level in computer software, including MS Office applications, database/spreadsheet usage, and AutoCAD or Pro/E usage.

· Ability to lead and direct the work of others (i.e. operators, set up technicians, etc.)
