Analyzes, develops and maintains complex backend Oracle databases for Siebel Application on Siebel 7.6 and Oracle 10g/11g versions in support of the Commercial Underwriting and Service Platform Program requirements. Projects are large in scope, typically cross-functional and technically difficult, often involving combinations of platforms and computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server, Web, e-commerce) and technologies.

  • Drive management of large, complex Siebel databases running on Oracle 10g and associated interfaces on Oracle 11g environments
  • Assist with the development and implementation of database architectures for new projects underway to redesign Siebel application
  • Perform database migrations, conversions and upgrades
  • Perform data archiving for complex projects using EIM tool
  • Possess strong working knowledge of Siebel Tools, functionality and underlying physical data model within the Siebel applications - workflow and assignment manager, business components/services, etc to provide subject-matter-expert support for complex projects
  • Support releases with DDL Sync scripts using Siebel repository migration process
  • Implement and manage Siebel specific database statistics collection, stored outlines
  • Strong proficiency in Performance trouble-shooting and tuning, Unix scripting and PL/SQL scripting for data mining and large-scale data conversions
  • Design, build, test, and deploy new/changed databases
  • Maintain and administer databases and supporting automation (e.g. database objects, security roles, capacity, performance tuning, import/export, alert rules)
  • Support compliance (e.g. SOX), and disaster recovery activities
  • Resolve database issues (incident and problem management)
  • Establish database standards and best practices
  • Perform design and code reviews
  • Possess strong working knowledge of High Availability, Backup and Recovery options and help to implement solutions
  • Automate routine database support tasks
  • Mentor and train technical staff
  • Develop and maintain documentation

  • Act as project or technical lead for new database designs, and complex production support activities of Siebel projects
  • Create new database designs
  • Enhance existing database designs for improved longevity, reduced maintenance, and improved performance
  • Assist with the creation and enhancement of cross-functional database systems
  • Participate in database design forums in areas of expertise
  • Perform complex production support activities (e.g. database consolidation)
  • Resolve complex incidents (e.g. security, performance tuning)
  • Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new product features
  • Assist with proactive root cause analysis
  • Automate routine support tasks
  • Develop and maintain documentation
  • Assist with enforcing database processes, procedures, best practices, standards and SLAs
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices
  • Perform security audits, and implement changes to resolve concerns
  • Analyze hardware capacity trends, and implement changes to ensure efficient consumption
  • Follow applicable processes, procedures, policies, standards, best practices, and SLAs
  • Mentor less experienced staff, and resolve escalated issues
  • Learn, understand and champion CMMi/ITIL frameworks
  • Participate in required training and assessments
  • Integrate process improvements into the way we do our work
  • Understand responsibilities of function, and change work process to align with revised role descriptions and staff in all phases of the development and implementation process

  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g technical database concepts, such as: physical data modeling, tuning large instances, resource management, data replication and backup/recovery techniques
  • Experienced Oracle database administrator supporting complex Siebel CRM application with 90+ interfaces
  • Requires at least three plus years of experience with implementations, upgrades, conversions and consolidation projects with Oracle databases
  • Experience supporting Oracle HA features such as Data Guard and Advanced replication.
  • Requires at least five plus years of complex PL/SQL and Unix scripting experience
  • Requires strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Requires strong analytical ability, judgment and problem analysis techniques, in-depth knowledge of the business unit’s functions and applications, and a broad knowledge of systems and technology alternatives
  • Requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and effectively with clients and IT managers
  • Requires at least three to five years of working knowledge of Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), Oracle Enterprise Manager (Oracle OEM/Grid Control), Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System, Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN), Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Database Security.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least eight, typically ten or more years of solid, diverse work experience in IT, database management, system administration or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

· Knowledge of ITIL, CMMi or Six Sigma processes, experience with matrix organizations spanning multiple geographic locations.

· Proactive, responsive, flexible, continuous improvement mindset, team oriented frequent/clear/concise communicator, positive attitude, customer focus, effective listener, good multitasking skills.
