Responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services that are fairly complicated in nature.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Checks requisitions, obtains quotations, examines, evaluates, and makes awards.
Requires ability to understand materials requirements and choose from several options. Compares prices and makes vendor selections or suggestions. Arranges delivery schedules.
Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, service and engineering.
Prepares purchase orders, transportation requirements, and related letters or memos.
Verifies order delivery and sends back inaccurate shipments.
Maintains inventories at planned levels.
Monitors Vendor quality.
As required, monitors the cost, schedule and scope aspects of assigned products.
Supplier development and driving continuous supplier improvement.
Work with finance on invoicing issues.
Provide KPI data.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participates in special projects as needed.
Initiative, energy and enthusiasm are essential requirements as are excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think logically.
Good communication skills and a proven ability to work to a high degree of accuracy are also essential.
Broad scope computer literacy including MRP, ERP, etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Sense of urgency to meet build schedules.
3 – 5 years of purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
Preferably a BS, or Associate degree in business related subjects.
Experience with electro-mechanical components.
Experience in negotiating.
Knowledge of Lean Mfg., Build To Order, and Point of Use is a plus.
Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
