What Skills Are Necessary to Be a Successful Dental Biller?
To be a successful dental biller, you need to have a solid understanding of the insurance industry and some experience in a dental care facility. You have to know what the dentist did to a given patient’s teeth or gums in order to record it on the billing statement accurately. Also, you have to have a minimum typing speed of about 30 words per minute, as you are required to enter data quickly and accurately. Both computer and multitasking skills are crucial for these duties. Often, your responsibilities involve working with a number of patients’ files. Another skill you need is understanding of patient confidentiality regulations. You can only divulge patient information on a need-to-know basis. Above all, you need strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to perform your duties effectively.
