Job Summary
As a Process Engineer, you will support the delivery of refinery and heavy industrial projects within an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environment. Based in the BC area, this role within a global engineering firm focuses on process design, technical execution, and client interaction across all project phases, from concept development through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.


Key Responsibilities
Process Design & Engineering
  • Develop and review process engineering deliverables including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and material balances, and process datasheets.
  • Perform process simulations, equipment sizing, and technical evaluations in support of refinery and industrial facilities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.
EPC Project Execution
  • Support EPC project execution by coordinating closely with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and operability evaluations.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, vendor document reviews, and factory acceptance testing.
Safety, Risk & Compliance
  • Participate in and support process safety activities such as HAZOPs, SIL reviews, and other risk assessments.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate process-related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment with corporate and client health, safety, environmental, and quality systems.
Client & Stakeholder Interface
  • Act as a technical interface with clients, responding to inquiries and supporting project meetings and reviews.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve technical issues and manage scope changes.
  • Prepare technical reports, design basis documentation, and project progress updates.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Senior-level experience with 10+ years in process engineering, primarily within EPC project environments; refinery experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting full project lifecycles, including design, procurement, construction support, and commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of refinery processes, unit operations, and industrial safety practices.
  • Proficiency with standard process engineering and simulation software tools (discipline-specific tools kept general).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary, client-facing teams.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to support projects across the BC region.
