    Job description

Our organization is located in Biddeford and Springvale, Maine.

    Position Overview:

We are looking for a full-time psychiatrist (1.0 FTE) to become part of our team at our behavioral health division. This role offers a distinctive chance to engage with various levels of care, including:

    • Three days a week dedicated to the Comprehensive Addiction Psychiatry Service (CAPS) and the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), both situated at our Biddeford Main Street location.
    • Two days a week in a combined role that involves providing psychiatric care for the PHP and covering the CAPS Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
    • One day a week focused exclusively on the CAPS program, which includes conducting IOP intakes, following up with patients, and offering outpatient care for a limited caseload of CAPS clients.
    • Two days a week in outpatient care at either:
      • Biddeford Ambulatory Clinic on Springbrook Drive, or
      • Springvale Ambulatory Clinic, depending on the provider's preference.
About the Comprehensive Addiction Psychiatry Service (CAPS):

CAPS specializes in treating individuals with substance use disorders alongside co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Our services encompass intensive outpatient programming, medication-assisted treatment, and integrated behavioral health strategies within a multidisciplinary team. The CAPS Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is an in-person initiative designed as a transitional step for individuals moving from the PHP program, facilitating their recovery and ensuring a seamless transition to outpatient care.

About the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP):

Located at our Biddeford Main Street facility, the PHP serves as a bridge between inpatient and outpatient care, providing an alternative for those needing more intensive treatment than standard outpatient visits. The program features two distinct tracks:

    • One track aimed at mental health stabilization.
    • Another track focused on substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring conditions.
    • Structured, group-based therapy that emphasizes emotional regulation, cognitive restructuring, and overall wellness.
    • Personalized treatment planning with specific tracks and durations of stay.
    • A multidisciplinary team comprising psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses.
    • A commitment to alleviating psychiatric symptoms and preventing the need for inpatient hospitalization.
About Our Outpatient Clinics (Biddeford & Springvale):

Our ambulatory clinics in Biddeford (Springbrook Drive) and Springvale are essential parts of our Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, ensuring prompt access to comprehensive and coordinated behavioral health services for individuals and families in York County. Both locations provide:

    • Outpatient psychiatry and medication management.
    • Individual and family therapy.
    • Specialized treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions.
    • Case management and care coordination.
    • Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team services.
    • Trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches.
    • Telehealth and hybrid care options.
    Position Highlights:
    • Full-time, hybrid role encompassing CAPS, PHP, and outpatient settings.
    • Team-based care model with a multidisciplinary approach.
    • Opportunities for teaching, supervision, and academic collaboration with Tufts University School of Medicine.
    • Attractive compensation package along with comprehensive benefits.
    Qualifications:
    • MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
    • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Maine.
    • Experience or interest in addiction psychiatry, partial hospitalization, and integrated care is preferred.
    • A strong dedication to collaborative, patient-centered care.
    About Our Behavioral Health Division:

Our behavioral health division is a leading integrated healthcare system in Northern New England. We primarily serve southern, western, central, and Mid-Coast Maine, and include the only nonprofit psychiatric hospital in southern Maine, along with outpatient treatment, crisis services, and five ACT teams. This fully integrated and expanding system of behavioral healthcare serves as a regional and national model for addressing serious mental health challenges.
