Job description

## About Minds Ignited

Minds Ignited is a software services company — we solve real problems for real customers.

If they need tooling, we build tools. If they need front-end or microservice work, we

define it and build it. Whatever the problem or idea, we figure out how to ship it. Because

the work shifts with each customer, you'll see more variety in a year here than in three at

a shop building the same feature over and over. We're small and close-knit, so your work

ships and matters from week one — no backlog purgatory, no corner to disappear into.

## What You'll Do

- Build and maintain backend services in **Java, Spring, and Gradle**, and work in

**TypeScript** where the frontend meets our services.

- Use **PostgreSQL** and **Elasticsearch** as the data layer behind that work.

- Take a feature from a rough description to working, tested code — asking good questions

along the way.

- Debug real problems, including the ones that don't surrender to the first search result.

- Take part in code review, both giving and receiving.

- Get hands-on with how we run things — **Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes, and CI/CD

pipelines** — learning the stack alongside the team.

- Grow into new languages: there's room to pick up **Go** and **Python** as the work calls

for it.

## How We Work With AI

We *want* you using AI coding tools — they're part of how good software gets built now.

What we hire for is the judgment on top of them: knowing what to ask, catching the tool

when it's confidently wrong, and owning the result either way. "The AI wrote it" isn't an

explanation for code you can't walk us through — but if you can drive these tools hard

*and* defend every line, you'll fit right in.

## What We're Looking For

- Solid fundamentals in **Java**, plus working comfort with **TypeScript** (or the clear

ability to pick it up quickly).

- The four things that predict a junior's success: you can **read** code you didn't write,

**write** code that works, **think through** a problem when the path isn't obvious, and

**start things yourself** without being handed each step.

- Working comfort with **REST APIs** and **SQL fundamentals** (PostgreSQL or any relational

database).

- A CS degree, a bootcamp, or a self-taught background with a portfolio — we care that you

can do the work, not which path you took.

- Roughly **0–2 years** of experience; internships and side projects count.

- Local to the **Las Vegas valley** and open to occasional in-person time (hybrid; the

cadence is flexible).

- *Bonus, not required:* **GraphQL, WebSockets, or Elasticsearch.** Any exposure to Docker,

Kubernetes, Terraform, Go, or Python is a plus, but we'll teach it.

## Compensation & Benefits

- **Salaried, $75,000–$90,000/year** depending on experience.

- **Paid federal holidays** off.

- **No Nevada state income tax** — your take-home goes further here than in most neighboring states.

## Hiring Process

We keep it practical and respect your time: a friendly intro call, a small take-home build

(AI allowed, ~90 minutes), and a live session where we review some code together and you

make a change on the spot. No leetcode gauntlet, no trick questions — just the kind of work

you'd actually do here.

## How to Apply

Apply through ZipRecruiter. In your application, tell us in a sentence or two about

something you built and one thing you'd change about it now — we love that question, and

your answer tells us more than a résumé ever could.
