Workwell Occupational Medicine is seeking a Limited Scope (X-ray) Technician / Medical Assistant. Position is available in our Fort Collins location but may provide occasional coverage in other clinics and mobile service. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious medical office professional who wants to be part of a dynamic and growing occupational healthcare company. Job Duties & Tasks

X-Ray:

  • Demonstrated ability, (clinic specific) to obtain X-rays from provider prescriptions
  • Additional duties include maintain patient files, maintain equipment and ordering supplies in accordance with standards
  • Capture images needed to make the proper diagnosis
  • Follow radiation guidelines to protect self and others from harmful exposure

Physical Exams: The Medical Assistant must demonstrate the ability to work up every physical exam in accordance with company protocol, while also following any specific OSHA guidelines and mandates. DOT exams are included in this expectation.

Vital Signs: The Medical Assistant must demonstrate the ability to take vital signs on each patient at least once during their course of care. This includes, but is not limited to: Blood Pressure, Weight, Pulse and temperature.

Urgent Care: Demonstrated ability to triage patients related to urgency and/or schedule; ability to communicate with co-workers related to specific situations; demonstrated consistency with assisting providers with setting up room in accordance with medical protocols and providing necessary support to providers. The Medical Assistant is responsible for ordering and stocking supplies in the Urgent Care room.

Titmus Exams: Dependent on specific clinic access, the Medical Assistant must be able to administer Titmus exams proficiently on a consistent basis. Working knowledge of machine and understanding of test results is a measurable part of this requirement.

Audiograms: (if applicable): Demonstrated proficiency to use audiogram booth, maintaining calibration/maintenance logs and resources.

Breath Alcohol Testing/Drug Screens: Hold current certification in Breath Alcohol Testing and DOT urine drug screen testing must be measurably proficient with all types of urine drug screens and able to consistently perform testing in accordance with company protocols; the Medical Assistant must also demonstrate a measurable understanding and implementation of calibration/verification of the BAT machine. This includes keeping the log in accordance with standards.

Pulmonary Function Tests: Each Medical Assistant must be able to demonstrate clinical efficiency with PFT testing. This includes, but is not limited to, printing of results and re-testing as directed by provider. Calibration of the machine in accordance with standards and logging of the same is a part of this proficiency.

EKG: Clinic specific, the Medical Assistant must be able to take EKG’s as directed by provider. Calibration/maintenance of this machine is a part of this expectation.

Venipuncture: All Medical Assistants must show proficiency with blood draws in accordance with company physical exam protocol. This includes, but is not limited to, demonstrated sterile technique, attention to Blood Borne Pathogen and Contagious Disease protocols and standards. Including completing Quest Diagnostic paperwork to accompany blood draws.

Inoculations/immunizations: Must be able to consistently give all medications by following the '5Rs' protocol. Inoculation/Immunization hand - out must also consistently be given to each patient for information purposes. Demonstrated correct reading of PPD testing is also a measurable part of this expectation as well as appropriate provider referrals.

Pick-up’s- Call and schedule pick up for labs.Insures blood and/or urine specimens are ready by 3:30 pm for pick up by carrier.

Provider office: Each Medical Assistant is responsible for the upkeep of the provider offices, inclusive of linen change and stocking of supplies. Chaperoning doctors/patient visits when requested. Assist the provider when needed.

Pharmacy: Calling in medication to pharmacies according to providers’ directions

Inventories: The Medical Assistant is responsible for keeping accurate inventory of clinical supplies, not limited to ortho equipment, drug, and all other supplies need in the provision of patient care and drug screens. Stocks all medication supplies including medications and vaccines.

Billing: Prepare and submit charges for all procedures performed by the Medical Assistant (drug screens, physicals, vaccines, etc).

Other duties as assigned

Work Hours:

Clinic hours are approximately 8am - 5pm (vary by location), Monday - Friday, No weekends. Hours are dependent on business and clinic needs.

Physical Requirements:

Standing 50% of the time. Walking 10% of the time. Bending /Squatting/Kneeling 10% of the time. Reaching 10% of the time. Lifting up to 50 lbs. 10% of the time. Sitting and reaching 30% of the time

Required Experience:

Education, Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Current certification/ registration from a recognized Medical Assistant Training Program (required)
  • Current certification for Limited Scope X-Ray Technician or a degree from an accredited program in Radiography (required)
  • Current First Aid / CPR certification from recognized program (American Red Cross, etc.) preferred
  • Certification for Federal and Non-Federal Drug Testing and Breath Alcohol Testing (required)
  • 2 or more years of experience (required)
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
